* EFF Releases Bloggers' Guide for Investigating Government Agencies

Freedom of Information Act Can Help Researchers Uncover Important RecordsWashington, D.C. - Bloggers across the Internet have shown that you don't have to be part of the mainstream media to uncover an important story and tell it to the world. But how do you start investigating a big story for your blog? The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has released tips for bloggers who want the inside story on government agencies. The Bloggers' FAQ on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) outlines how to use open government laws to get access to records kept by federal agencies like the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), or the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)."Online journalism makes a unique contribution to America's vibrant culture of free speech," said EFF Staff Attorney Marcia Hofmann. "Using the Freedom of Information Act is a powerful way to shed light on government activities and foster critical public debate about the discoveries."The guide walks bloggers through making a FOIA request -- addressing what to ask for, which government offices must comply, and what you can and cannot obtain through FOIA. It also explains how to put requests on the fast track and get processing fees waived. The guide is the most recent product of EFF's FLAG Project, which uses FOIA requests and litigation to expose the government's expanding use of technologies that invade privacy. Earlier this month, the FLAG Project filed lawsuits demanding that the FBI release records concerning the development of two electronic surveillance tools as well as information about the FBI's "Investigative Data Warehouse" (IDW) -- a huge database that contains hundreds of millions of entries of personal information."The FLAG Project investigates privacy-invasive tools and policies fostered by the government. There are many other important issues out there in which a blogger can make a difference," EFF Senior Counsel David Sobel said. "Everyone has the ability through FOIA to discover government corruption, fraud and waste, and to publicize those abuses of power."For the Bloggers' FAQ on the

Free Howard Stern Show available on the net!!

NICE!!!!!!!! Listen to what your missing and Join the revolution!!!!!

Sirius Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI) said Monday it would launch a Web-only version of its subscription satellite service, a significant step for the company as it tries to generate enough revenue to earn back major investments in on-air talent.
Sirius will launch Sirius Internet Radio, which it described as a CD-quality, Internet-only version of its original service, with more than 75 channels of programming. The service will cost US$12.95 per month and can be received through any PC, without the need for a special satellite receiver.

Sirius said it would launch the service by offering two days of free Howard Stern programming later this week. Listeners must register in advance to get the free preview of Stern's shock-jock program, which moved from traditional radio to Sirius early this year after Stern signed a US$500 million deal with Sirius.
As on satellite, all of the Sirius programming will be free of commercials and include a range of musical styles, as well as political talk, self-help and sports.
While Sirius programming had been available to subscribers over the Internet in the past, only those who had both subscribed to the service and purchased a satellite receiver could tune in, noted Scott Greenstein, Sirius' president of Entertainment and Sports.
Star Wars

The move comes as the two major satellite services -- Sirius and XM experience some slowing in subscriber growth, which has prompted some to question the significant investments each has made to sign high-profile talent. Other Sirius headliners include Martha Steward, while Oprah Winfrey signed on earlier this year to produce content on XM, which also carries a music show hosted and programmed by Bob Dylan.
With Stern in particular, Sirius apparently believes that many of the 12 million listeners he had at his peak on terrestrial radio will be willing to pony up to hear him on the Web, especially after a taste of his new, censor-free show. In recent months, Stern has denied reports that he was planning a return to regular radio after his move to Sirius did not provide the subscriber base boost some had predicted.
Sirius had about 5.12 million subscribers at the end of the third quarter, trailing XM by around 2 million users, though Sirius has been gaining on its larger rival more recently. In the third quarter, Sirius said it added 441,101 subscribers, while XM reported 285,000 new sign-ups.
Despite their growth trajectories, both companies continue to strive for consistent profitability, with the costs associated with acquiring new customers often cited as a drag on efforts to move into the black.
Just wait till Howard gets his hands on Lindsey Lohan or Jared Leto. He will crush these second rate hacks for taking part in Chapter 27.

Birthday Gift for John...Parole DENIED!!!

Quick update, getting back on the topic of the "Chapter 27" movie. You will all be happy to know that the animal that murdered John was denied parole for the fifth time yesterday. A day after what would have been John Lennons 66th birthday. The monster being played by Jared Leto will not be eligible to apply for parole again for two years. We can all sleep well knowing that at least in this instance, justice has prevailed. Luckily, this hearing was held before Leto and Lohan could turn this killer in to a likeable character, just a poor lost sole. This movie by Peace Arch Entertainment has got to be a horrible sick joke. BOYCOTT CHAPTER 27 !!!! MDC (also known as Shithead or JerkOff), the convicted killer of John Lennon, was denied parole for a fourth time on Tuesday. Shithead, 51, will remain at Attica Correctional Facility for at least two more years, the New York state parole board ruled. "The panel remains concerned about the bizarre nature of this premeditated and violent crime," the board wrote in a one-page decision. The hearing before a three-member panel at Attica prison lasted 16 minutes, said Scott Steinhardt, a spokesman for the state division of parole. "While the panel notes your satisfactory institutional adjustment," the decision said, "due to the extremely violent nature of the offence, your release would not be in the best interest of the community." Shithead confessed to shooting Lennon four times with a revolver in front of the musician's Dakota apartment residence the night of Dec. 8, 1980. Lennon and wife Yoko Ono were returning from a recording studio when confronted by DickHead, who just hours earlier had received the former Beatle's autograph. Lennon would have turned 66 on Monday. Jerk-Off, who had flown from his Hawaii home two days prior to the killing, had been obsessed with the singer and J.D. Salinger's novel The Catcher in the Rye. He was sentenced in 1981 to a minimum of 20 years in prison. "I made a big mistake by getting jobs that I worked all night, where I just had time to think'' he said at a 2002 parole hearing, according to a transcript released by the parole board. He also confessed to drinking heavily during the period. Jerk-Off is being portrayed by actor Jared Leto in an upcoming film about the killer co-produced by Toronto's Peace Arch Entertainment and Artina Films. It is scheduled for an April 2007 release.

Will the latest E. Coli outbreaks be linked to terrorism and used by the Republicans in the mid-term election?

PREDICTION: In the next 2-3 weeks the latest E. Coli outbreaks WILL be linked to terrorism...This pending disaster to the US food supply will than be used by the Republican Party as a springboard going in to the November mid-term elections.
This news will instantly stop all of the current pressure on the republicans in congress, brought on by the current scandals and continued failures.

CONSPIRACY THEORY...PERHAPS
ONLY TIME WILL TELL...But would you put this or anything else past the current Bush regime?

Below is the latest release regarding E.Coli in Lettuce, this follows problems with both spinach and beef in the last 2 weeks.

SAN FRANCISCO - Less than a week after the Food and Drug Administration lifted its warning on fresh spinach grown in California's Salinas Valley, a popular brand of lettuce grown there was recalled Sunday over concerns about E. Coli.
The lettuce does not appear to have caused any illnesses, the president of Salinas-based Nunes Co. Inc. Said.
The lettuce scare comes amid other federal warnings that some brands of spinach, bottled carrot juice and recent shipments of beef could cause grave health risks — including paralysis, respiratory failure and death.
Executives ordered the recall after learning that irrigation water may have been contaminated with E. coli, said Tom Nunes Jr., president of the company.
So far, company investigators have not found E. coli bacteria in the lettuce itself, Nunes stressed.
"We're just reacting to a water test only. We know there's generic E. Coli on it, but we're not sure what that means," he said. "We're being extra careful. This is precautionary."
The recall covers green leaf lettuce purchased in grocery stores Oct. 3-6 in Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. It was also sold to distributors in those states who may have sold it to restaurants or institutions.
The recalled lettuce was packaged as "Green Leaf 24 Count, waxed carton," and "Green Leaf 18 Count, cellophane sleeve, returnable carton." Packaging is stamped with lot code14.
FDA spokeswoman Julie Zawisza said the agency is aware of the voluntary recall but had no details.
"As a standard course of action, we would expect the firm to identify the source of the contamination and take steps to ...Ensuree that it doesn't happen again," Zawisza wrote in an e-mail.
It's unlikely that the bacteria in the lettuce fields share the source of the E. coli found in spinach that has sickened nearly 200 people and has been linked to three deaths nationwide, Nunes said.
Pathogenic Escherichia coli bacteria, or E. coli, can proliferate in uncooked produce, raw milk, unpasteurized juice, contaminated water and meat. When consumed, it may cause diarrhea and bloody stools.
Although most adults should recover within a week without long-term side effects, some people may develop a form of kidney failure.
That illness is most likely to occur in young children, senior citizens and people with compromised immune systems. In extreme cases, it can lead to kidney damage or death.
The recall at Nunes Co., a family-owned business with more than 20,000 acres of cropland in Arizona and California, comes days after federal agents searched two Salinas Valley produce companies connected to the nationwide spinach scare.
Epidemiologists also warned consumers last week to stay away from some bottled carrot juice after a Florida woman was paralyzed and three people in Georgia experienced respiratory failure, apparently due to botulism poisoning.
Also on Friday, an Iowa company announced that it was recalling 5,200 pounds of ground beef suspected of having E. coli. The government said no illnesses have been reported from consumption of the beef.
The outbreaks have sparked demands to create a new federal agency in charge of food safety. Sens. Charles Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton, both New York Democrats, are sponsoring legislation authored by Sen. Richard Durbin D-Ill., to create the unified Food Safety Agency.
"This recent outbreak must be a wake-up call to get our food safety house in order, because right now it's in pure disarray," Schumer said at his Manhattan office. "We need to have one agency take charge to ensure the next outbreak isn't far worse."
The outbreaks have also devastated the economy of Salinas Valley, the self-proclaimed "Salad Bowl to the World."
Farmers in the area, about 100 miles south of San Francisco, began plowing spinach crops under and laying off workers last month, as government inspectors examined fields and packing houses for the source of the deadly outbreak. Nunes said he upgraded safety inspection protocols in wake of the spinach scare. "There's a high level of urgency in our industry, and we're being very proactive," Nunes said. "It's obviously based upon recent events in the produce industry and concern for customers. We just don't want anything to happen."
Although I DO NOT believe that this is or would be done by or with the knowledge of any American officials (not that conspiracy crazy), do not put it past people in power to use this type of situation to remain in control...that would be naive. Just wait till November '08, now that should be interesting...IN A VERY SCARY sort of way!!!
