New Film; Leto starring as Hitler, Lohan as Eva Braun

In a new film being released by Peace Arch Entertainment Jared Leto will be starring, as a wholesome Hitler and Lindsey Lohan will be his beloved and sweet Eva Braun.
Would we really compare the killer of John Lennon to Hitler...of course not, but the point is; Are Hollywood "stars" willing to take any role for money? Probably not, but I’m sure its not the money, its the challenge of the role. After all, if you can turn the killer of Beatle great and peace hero John Lennon’s killer in to a "likeable" character, can a headline similar to the one above be far off.
Please join us in stopping Chapter 27 and ensuring failure for Peace Arch Entertainment in their bid to profit off of a true disaster. The destruction of a peaceful man, attempting to enlighten the world with his words, music, and actions.

Capitalism does not do right and wrong

Let me start off by telling all of our new members and repeat visitors that the technical problems we were having seem to be resolved. Your posts will now be posted to the blog.

Now, back to the topic at hand. We have gotten various emails and responses on message boards claiming that we are not capitalists, because the free market should decide the success or failure of the disgrace called Chapter 27. If it a good movie, it will succeed and our boycott will only draw attention to peace arch entertainment and their film....Allow me to retort.

Speaking for myself and the close members contributing to the cause (that I know personally), we are absolutely Capitalists and patriotic Americans. We are managers for Fortune 500 companies, self employed Webmaster, and successful attorneys. The difference between our members and Peace Arch management is that we have made a conscious decision to draw a line between earning a living in a capitalist society and exploiting one of the true disasters of the 20th century.
Corporations are recognized entities, with the rights of citizens, but have no purpose other than to earn a profit. In our estimation this notion can coexist in a descent, caring society. Peace Arch on the other hand, obviously puts the dollar (or Canadian dollar) before all else. This is what we find so incredibly despicable. We ask all who read this, to consider, what makes us human and why even true capitalists must live each day with a purpose, beyond making a buck. What if the efforts of Lindsey Lohan and Jared Lito, along with the millions that went in to filming in front of Yokos' home (the Dakota, where John was killed) had been put in to a worthwhile effort, rather than trying to earn money attempting to entertain with their rendition of a senseless murder.
How much profit will Peace Arch put towards a just cause? What is their track record of corporate responsibility and charitable donations? Do they have a heart, have their children fought in war? Do they care about peace, or anything for that matter?
We await their response and welcome your comments. We also appreciate all of those that have placed links on their sites to further our cause.

Thanks,

ummm, I think he was the singer for the Beatles, right?

Please save my faith in humanity...I'm looking for some short notes regarding the influence that John Lennon had on your life. What are your favorite statements that John made during his efforts to bring peace around the world. I have been doing a little polling of people under the age of 18 and the answers I have been getting are not making me feel all warm and fuzzy. I know peace is on their minds, I can feel the pendulum swinging back too the left (just in time). They get that Bush and his ultra-conservative friends are not helping. We need your help, please let us know what’s on your mind, universities are ripe to spread a message of peace, it’s just a matter of getting the message across in a language they understand. Help us translate the work of John and Yoko to the college campuses of today. SPREAD THE WORD!!! Stop Chapter 27 and Peace Arch Entertainment. Spread peace around the world. You can make a difference.

Great Poem...found on www.bagism.com

The Day A Hero Died
by Laraine Colwell

On December 8, 1980,A hero died.
A senseless and vicious death,
And many of his followers cried.

December 8, 1980,
Was the day the music really died.
The music that stood for love and peace,
All of that died.

All he wanted,Was love and peace.
Did all of this,
Really have to cease?

Why did John Lennon have to die,
In such a horrible way?
A true hero and peace maker,
Lost in such a vicious way.

NICE WORK !!!

Bed-In for Peace, GREAT WORK GUYS!!!

What better way to turn this film that defiles a beautiful life than to organize a bed-in for peace surrounding the week of its release? Please send us some feedback on the possibilities for the success of this campaign. As it is not realistic for many to take a week off from work, I would like to propose this action to our large following of college students who contact us regularly. Consider a "Bed In" for spring break next year, the timing is just right and the impact could be fantastic, remember its you guys who could be sent to Iran by this time next year. Below is an article about two students in Canada who did just that, It took only two students to make the national news in Canada, what could we do with a few thousand in the United States?

Two Halifax art students are staying in bed all week, in the name of peace and John Lennon.

Jody Zinner, a student at NSCAD University, said she was inspired by Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, who staged a "bed-in" for peace in Montreal in 1969.
"I remember growing up and hearing about it. It was the ultimate Canadian peace demonstration, in my mind, even though it wasn't two Canadians," she said.
Zinner and partner Maggie Boyd have set up a double bed at the Miniseeds gallery on Hollis Street as way to get people thinking about war.
"With us entering into Afghanistan more and it getting more serious, a lot of Canadians are really conflicted about their feelings towards that. This is just another great way for them to pause and walk by and think," Zinner said.
Lennon and Ono held their first bed-in for peace in an Amsterdam hotel in March 1969. A few months later, they spent a week in a bed at Montreal's Queen Elizabeth Hotel.
Zinner said the storefront gallery is a great location for the bed-in because people are comfortable dropping in for a visit. She and Boyd even brought along their dog and cat.
"We get a lot of people making peace signs. Everybody just walks away grinning," Zinner said.
The art students began the bed-in Monday evening and plan to wrap it up on Friday.

GREAT JOB GUYS!!!! Keep the dream of Peace alive!!! Thanks for Caring!!!

never mind this, its a search engine thing: beatles, john lennon, yoko, chapter 27 movie, peace, bed in, boycott chapter 27, save our children, war sucks, ever try it?, don't ruin my children's lives, bullets flying over head, children getting blown up, disaster, thinking is the first step, be an independent thinker, working for a cause is never dumb, no matter how uphill the battle, bush is a mistake, the pedulam always swings back, thank god.

Question....How scary is the Bush regime?

Remember how you felt when John spoke of peace?

I just found this paragraph on a John-Lennon.com....this is one example of why we must use this movie to turn a negative in to a positive. While working to ensure the financial failure of "Chapter 27" is the theme of our website, so much more can be gained by having Beatles fans everywhere come together and speak out. Please read this letter written by a 13 year old girl and remember how John made you feel when he spoke about peace.

"For me, John is still alive. I believe he's still with us,looking over Yoko, Sean and Julian. If you are reading this John, remember that I will never loose faith in you,and say hi to George for us. Even though I'm only 13,you're forever going to be my hero, because of giving your life for Love and Peace. I'm a great fan of The Beatles, and I believe that they were the best rock & roll group in music history. Not many people my age understand me well. They don't understand why I like The Beatles and why John Lennon is forever going to be my hero. They don't understand why a 13 year old girl would be intoThe Beatles, John Lennon and George Harrison. All I've got to say about this Message Board, is that it helped me in a sort of way, tell the whole world how I feel about a man, who for no reasons, died.
Remember, War Is Over If You Want It.

Continued exchange with author Robert Rosen

Robert Rosen writes...
Howard,
Thank you for writing. First of all, let me say that I’m a free speech purist. I do not believe that any work of art should be censored for any reason. People should be able to see or read virtually anything they want, and make up their own minds about it.Though a boycott is not censorship per se, it comes mighty close. You’re trying to stop people from seeing “Chapter 27,” and punish the company that’s making it. As I said in my posting, it’s going to have the opposite effect; it always does. It’s going to make people want to see the film even more. Also, you don’t know that “Chapter 27” is going to glorify Lennon’s murder. You won’t know what it’s going to do until you see it. Again, as I said in my posting, if the film’s done well, it may “bring us to a deeper understanding” of Chapman’s insanity, and what caused it. That would be a good thing, a rare step in the right direction. On the other hand, “Chapter 27” may very well be a schlocky piece of exploitative dreck, and if that’s the case, I have every intention of saying so on this blog, and in any other newspaper or magazine that invites me to write about it. I might also point out that the last film I saw that somebody tried to boycott was Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Temptation of Christ.” It was blasphemous, the “Christian” right said. How dare anybody show Jesus as a human being with sexual thoughts. As it turned out, I found the film inspiring. I walked out of the theatre wanting to be more like Jesus. And, of course, there was a picket line out front, a bunch of people carrying signs saying I was going straight to hell for watching a movie they obviously hadn’t seen. So, Howard, though I can’t support your boycott, I do respect your right to attempt a boycott. And I'd be happy to continue this debate.

Howard said...
Robert,
Allow me to begin this reply with an apology, I have found myself so enraged by the subject, that my emotions have been getting the best of me when discussing the topic. My initial post, while I still believe correct, should have been more politely worded.
As I see it, a boycott is almost the perfect opposite to censorship, as we are looking to educate the public with our viewpoint, a far cry from a government forcing its viewpoint on a people. And when you say that a boycott or action ALWAYS has the opposite effect, would that include the actions of men like Ghandi and Martin Luther King? (and believe me, I am in no way comparing myself to these heros) I'm sure you can imagine how "sexy" the trailers will be for this film. Wouldn't you prefer a well-educated public, rather than one blinded by sex appeal or mystery.
As far as my "assumptions" that this film will glorify a murderer, I have taken this viewpoint based on articles I have read, written by individuals who have read the screenplay first hand. One of which was entitled "Lennon Film Script: A New 'Springtime for Hitler'". I will be happy to supply you with the URL if you have not read the article ( or just google the title).Than I ask you, is there really wisdom to be gained by any further understanding the mind of a madman. To me it is difficult to believe that we can learn from a deranged murderer, will other psychopaths act in a similar fashion? After all, I would think the fact that one is insane would almost guarantee a thought process, which is not likely to be repeated.
A statement you made in your initial reply got me thinking, you may be contradicting yourself. You stated, "I have every intention of saying so on this blog, and in any other newspaper or magazine that invites me to write about it." Meaning that you have a vested interest in this film, you win either way, but if a financial success, your knowledge of the subject pays far better. Which led me to an interview in which you replied to a question with "His diaries are a vivid example of how money and fame are not going to solve your problems". Consider this when you dangle bait in front of people, seemingly encouraging them to see this film in the hopes of gaining "wisdom".I do look forward to future communications, as this debate will hopefully inspire people to think and remember the message that John wanted to spread around the world, rather than the action of the animal who took him from us.

Boycott = Censorship?....NOT

This is a copy of an email sent to Robert Rosen, the author of a biography on John Lennon, in response to a thoughtless article written in his blog. http://www.robertrosen.blogspot.com/

Let me explain the motivation for boycottchapter27.org and the petition that you dismiss out of ignorance. Boycott does not equal censorship. There is not a direct correlation and obviously the correlation is inverse, the boycott is being presented for 3 reasons.
The first of which is to attempt to cause any economic hardship possible for the company responsible for glorifying the murder of John Lennon, it's not being done for Yoko, or to damper free speak, only to spread the word of the greed being perpetrated by "Peace" Arch entertainment. The second is education; the teenagers of today are about to be sold a film utilizing "stars", with no understanding of just who was destroyed by this maniac (other than...wasn't he the singer in the Beatles?). Third, if this film and boycott can be used as a stepping-stone for a message of peace (especially to youngsters) then perhaps all is not lost. You pose yourself as such an intellectual, but then you put down individuals attempting to make a difference, and that my friend is not very intelligent. We could use your support rather than simple dismissal.
Sincerely,
Howard

Boycott Chapter 27 - PRESS RELEASE

Below is a copy of the press release we have issued on 4/20. Please feel free to comment and make suggestions for future releases.

Summary (Displayed on Category, Index, MSA pages, also as description meta and RSS tag) —

BoycottChapter27 has been created by fans of John Lennon to stop the glorification of a Murderer. —

Body

In April 07 a Canadian film company is planning the release of a major film in the United States and around the World. This film glorifies the murder of a true hero of peace, at a time when the world could truly use his leadership and wisdom.
That hero is JOHN LENNON.
An organization has formed in Miami to prevent the success of this film, its initial vehicle will be the website http://www.boycottchapter27.org./The producers of Chapter 27 have hired actors who appeal to a young audience (Lindsey Lohan and Jared Leto), most of whom are not aware of just how significant this event was to those who lived in this era.Currently in Blog format (the website is in the works). The website links to a petition which currently has over 1300 signers in just over 2 weeks. The group is looking to gain awareness for the cause and to pressure movie theatres not to show this film when released in April 2007.What is the name of the person who killed John Lennon? Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono made a simple request to John Lennon’s fans. Never repeat the name of his killer. Doing so would only give his killer the fame and notoriety he was seeking. People interested in joining the organization, can contact them at boycottchapter27@aol.com or visit http://www.boycottchapter27.org./

LINKS would be very Helpful

If you have a website or blog....PLEASE add a link to our site, this disgusting film is due for release in April 2007. We need to move fast, help us get listed in the major search engines by adding us to your website. Or simply tell a friend about the petition.

Keep in mind we will never add any adsense or other advertising to our site. This is not a project that will ever be used to "turn a profit". Unlike the owners and management of Peace Arch Entertainment Group, we have a conscience and would not look to profit from a disaster.

Petition and link

Will this petition alone achieve its goal, of course not...but what better way to spread the word. Please take the minute to "sign" and pass it along to a friend. Read below and follow the link to sign, and have it sent to Peace Arch Entertainment:

To: Peace Arch Entertainment
Regarding the film currently in production under the title of "Chapter 27," we, the undersigned, are firmly opposed to its release. This film purports to document the life of Mark David Chapman in the days leading up to his infamous murder of John Lennon. We find the possible "angles" of this film neither educational nor entertaining. Instead, this film diminishes the horror of Lennon's brutal murder and sadistically shifts the historical focus from his career to his assassination. Most importantly, it fulfills Chapman's own prophecy of becoming famous through murdering Lennon. While it may be argued that Chapman has already achieved that fame through the media following the murder, his character's extension into the entertainment arts is a new level of victory for the fame-seeking assassinator. Movie protagonists, despite how darkly or despicably they are portrayed, are always transformed into somewhat sympathetic subjects by the power of cinema. The casting decisions for this film, so far revealed as Jared Leto and Lindsay Lohan, further its appeal as a trendy piece of cinema carved out for the new American generation, rather than what it really is: a final prize for a criminal mind. We hereby boycott "Chapter 27."
Sincerely,

Boycott Chapter 27 is a site that has been made for all Beatles fans throughout the world and for any other sane human being who believes that it is utterly disturbing to try and turn a vicious killer and psycho path into a Celebrity. The movie Chapter 27 is being produced by a Canadian film company. Not only are they crossing the line with making a movie that is definitely in the wrong, they had enough courage to film part of the movie in front of the Dakota where Yoko still lives. Any Beatles fan would definitely not accept this behavior and would voice there opinions for the world to hear. This is what this site is all about! There is a Forum that you can sign up and join to write about your feelings on the topic and to read others thoughts as well. This is a free service to use, you just need to sign up for an account with a username, password and email address and then you are all set. There is also a Message Board that is available to use as well. The Message Board does not require you to sign up and is also a free service to use. Feel free to use both of the services you lay out all of your feelings and concerns on such an awful subject. Also don't forget to sign the Online Petition. The more signatures that the petition receives, the more it shows that people really don't want to see the movie. One of the best music writers and musicians of all times is less than a year away from being slapped in the face by a company that doesn't appreciate who John Lennon was. To make a movie and try to get a message across that this horrible man is not as bad as you think and to make people feel sorry for him is a really disturbing thought. The day that this movie is released, it will truly be the saddest day in entertainment history.

What is the name of the person who killed John Lennon?

Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono made a simple request to John Lennon's fans. Never repeat the name of his killer. Doing so would only give his killer the fame and notoriety he was seeking. If you must know, look at any newspaper during the days immediately following December 8, 1980

MDC told the Parole Board that he had committed the murder to gain attention, "to steal John Lennon's fame.

Boycott Chapter 27 - Initial Post

John Lennon

Born
October 9, 1940
John Winston Lennon

Assassinated
December 8, 1980
John Winston Ono Lennon

BIO
John Winston Ono Lennon has been exhumed in print more than any other popular musical figure, including the late Elvis Presley, of whom Lennon said that he "died when he went into the army". Such was the cutting wit of a deeply loved and sadly missed giant of the twentieth century. As a member of the world's most successful group ever, he changed lives, mostly for the better. Following the painful collapse of The Beatles, he came out a wiser but angrier person. Together with his wife Yoko Ono, he attempted to transform the world through non-musical means. To many they appeared as naive crackpots; Ono in particular has been victim of some appalling insults in the press. One example shown in the film Imagine depicts the cartoonist Al Capp being both hostile and dangerously abusive. Their bed-in in Amsterdam and Montreal, their black bag appearances on stage, their innocent flirting with political activists and radicals, all received massive media attention. These events were in search of world peace, which regrettably was unachievable. What Lennon did achieve, however, was to educate us all to the idea of world peace.

search engines, google, yahoo, excite, aol, give peace a chance, get us listed and help spread the words of peace. life is way to precious, before long your children will turn 18 and bush and the republicans will send them to iraq or possibly iran to die in war. ever have bullets flying over your head? cant be a good thing. i'm no maniac for peace, actually i was very conservitive, used to be alex p. keaton, but as i age and my children get older, i get more and more afraid for their lives and their future, please help give peace a chance. lets see what we can do together, a bed in, protest, boycott, whatever it takes, lets use this ridiculous movie as a stepping stone for peace. Yes, they have the right to make the movie, but has peace arch entertainment considered the impact it just maty have on some maladjusted teenager? the only thought here was money, and don't get me wrong i am all for capitalism...1000%, but is their a limit. John lennon was a great inspiration for peace, why spit on his grave with this disaster, maybe money can be made without abusing a great legacy, rabblings of a very concerned patriot....Thanks
