Wish I had more time this morning to comment on the link below:

This is the Cannes film festival promo sheet from Peace Arch Entertainment (PAE), now
although I have not read the complete script, look at the images and the wording for the
Chapter 27 promo. Tell me that this will not help lead to sympathy and the eventual parole of John Lennons murderer.

So answer this: How can one make a connection between parole of Chapman based on something you haven't seen or read?
I wrote this at another site (the Lennon-inspired Bagism; where boycott supporters have been posting messages and not being met with much support from the people there) but will repeat it here:
This situation reminds me a lot of the summer of 1988 when Albert Goldman's "The Lives of John Lennon" was about to be published. At Beatlefest in Chicago, the festival promoter and the MC told the crowd that the book should be boycotted and it was the duty of Beatles fans to pressure bookstores not to sell it.
Goldman's book did come out, and you know what?
The world didn't come to an end.
John Lennon's reputation didn't suffer. The Beatles are more popular now than they were then. "The Lives of John Lennon" is pretty much forgotten. Goldman has since died and pretty much forgotten. All the drama and gnashing of teeth seems silly now.
The same will happen with "Chapter 27." The movie will come out, and get some attention because of the subject (and this boycott if it continues) and then be forgotten. Jared Leto and Lindsay Lohan will move on to new projects. In 5, 6, 7 years time all this talk about how "Chapter 27" humanizes Chapman and will lead to his parole will be silly.
If the people behind this boycott are Fortune 500 types as the site claims here's a suggestion: pool your money together and make your own movie. Portray Lennon with a halo over his head and Chapman with horns and cloven hoofs with a pitchfork. Respond to speech you don't like with your version of the "truth."
Really, what moral ground do you stand on to tell people what they should or shouldn't see. If you don't want to see "Chapter 27," fine. I probably won't see it but not because of your silly boycott.
Everybody is offended by something. (question: are you supporting the boycott of "The Da Vinci Code?") If what people found offensive were boycotted and banned there would be a lot of empty theaters, radio and airwaves and bookstores and the world, frankly would be a much duller place.
the only dull thing around here was your lame 5 min monologue praising your obvious role model: a psycho killer. obviously you have no compassion and feel it's ok someone gets killed in vain. if you were in the scenario of losing a loved one i wonder if you would feel the same way you do now. i certainly wouldn't be suprised if you did. moral ground you ask? get a life buddy and why stop there, try and get a heart too tin man.
