The Aftermath & Some More Thoughts To Share (Chapter 27)

This is my first post to this board in a long time.I am sorry that I have not been contributing to this but I have not jumped ship nor given up the cause.I am still in the battle and I am just happy that the results have been in our favor,so far.It was a hard fought battle but at least,Chapter 27 will never see a US movie theatre.Since no distributor has picked it up,we can now smile and say WE WON.

After the dismal reception that the film received at Sundance and AFM,we can now smile and lift our glasses high and drink up.I know that the battle is not truly over yet. There is still the matter of the film coming straight to DVD.But I am going to continue to honor the memory and legacy of John Lennon by not renting it.I have seen some clips from it and as the reviewer who saw it at AFM said,"Leto's performance as the murderer is boring",I do have to agree.Leto was boring as the man who murdered John Lennon.Again,I am not renting this when it comes to Blockbuster or even Hollywood Video when it released for rental. In this way,I am going to honor the memory and legacy of "One of the greatest men who ever lived" by avoiding this "worthless excuse of a movie" that glorifies THAT MAN who murdered him.THAT MAN has already become famous for doing that dastardly deed.He does not need to be even more famous than he is already. This movie should not have been made in the first place.Again,I am going to honor John Lennon by avoiding this movie like the plague.

I have also stopped by the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com) recently and believe it or not, before the fate of being released "direct to DVD", Peace Arch had been lying to people that finding a US theatrical distributor was on the backburner and that the film was going to get a theatrical release.I read it all on the message boards on the site on the Chapter 27 page.Yes,they were lying to people who knew them and said that the release plans were "Put on the backburner"and that the rumors were false and that the boycotting of the movie had not changed a thing.Apparently, they were toying with people's faith in this film that actually belongs in the trash bin and not on DVD.How pathetic can you get?Apparently,at the time before the DVD plans,Peace Arch wanted to keep hopes alive but unfortunately,Peace Arch wound up being total losers in this whole fiasco and tried to make fools out of people through false hope.Oh well. That is the way the cookie crumbles or as Frank Sinatra would sing "That's Life."

By the way,I did manage to check out some of the comments that were left by anonymous visitors to the site. What I read really frosted me to the point where I thought that they were desecrating the USA.Some of the anonymous comments compared Chapter 27 to movies such as World Trade Center and United 93.This is what made me angry. How could these people, who were too chicken to leave their names in the first place, compare a movie that glorifies a murderer with movies that paid honor to those who lost their lives by giving of themselves to save others lives on the fateful day known as 9/11/01 when terrorists hit our shores and crashed passenger planes into the World Trace Center,Pentagon and Rural Pennsylvania. Not only that,I also thought "How Dare They Even Do That?" and also "What Nerve?" World Trade Center and United 93 were different altogether in terms of why they were made. Both these films paid honor, respects and homage to the brave souls who lost their lives that fateful day known as "The Day The World Stopped Turning".Those brave souls lost their lives by giving of their lives in an attempt to save the lives of others who were trapped in the twin towers and in the Pentagon on September 11th 2001.Those two movies do not honor the terrorists nor do they glorifiy what the terrorists did on our soil.It pays tribute to those who gave of themselves unselfishly to make sure that other people would live to see another day.Of course, over 3,000 lives were still lost but those films also honor those innocent Americans who lost their lives that day and it also reminds their loved ones that they will never be forgotten nor will their memories die.On the other hand,Chapter 27 glorifies a man who murdered a much loved and respected man.A man who loved and prayed for the human race.A man who also showed us through his music that peace and love for one another are the only ways.Chapter 27 also gives THAT MAN more fame and notoriety that he truly does not deserve. He is already famous enough. He doesn't need to be even more famous.THAT MAN simply wants to stay in the public consciousness and this movie only affirms what THAT MAN wants.Again,THAT MAN does not deserve any more fame or notoriety. He has enough. He does not need even more.

To those who made those inexcusable comparisons. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. There is no excuse to compare Chapter 27 to World Trade Center and United 93.The latter movies pay honor and tribute to the fallen heroes and the innocent Americans who lost their lives that day on 9/11/01 and also honors those who lost their lives to save other people's lives from the burning buildings and to those who lost their lives to stop the terrorists from crashing a plane into another tall building. Not only that, those movies do not honor those responsible for the attacks on American soil.Chapter 27 is the exact opposite. It glorifies the killing of a great man and it awards his killer with even more fame by keeping his name and presence in the public consciousness.I hope that you all learned your lesson. If not, then OH WELL!Some people never learn.

Thanks to Howard for keeping in touch with me and for his patience.I really appreciated all of that. Thanks also for the kind encouragement.

You guys won huh? If for some reason this movie does go straight to DVD, it isn't because of your pathetic little boycott. Get a life. Why don't you put some of this energy into something more important.

You are the one harming the memory of Lennon by behaving like this. I've read your blog and you sound just as obsessed and irrational as the Leto portrayed Lennon killer in Chapter 27. Yes, I've seen it. It doesn't glorify the loser at all. On the contrary, it trivialises him.

Let's face it, only close minded idiots would boycott this movie. The movie is great, and it does in no way make you symphatise with the murderer. Mark David Chapman. Oh no! I know his name! God forbid!

No,this is not a great movie. Some of our sources have said that this film STINKS and we are taking our sources words over yours any day.According to the critic who saw this "worthless excuse of a movie" at AFM before it premiered at Sundance, that reviewer said that the movie was boring and that Leto was boring as the murderer and that his performance was without substance. Not only that,he also said that it was a "totally unnecessary movie" and a "total waste of time"

The reason why you're all whining is because you are just angry because the film is never going to see a theatre in the USA.You were all hoping for it and it did not happen.

The only thing I can say here is "TOO BAD" but "NOT TOO BAD" in our case.

Bythe way, you're the ones that need to get a life.We have got a life and you're just jealous because of it because you are all nothing but a bunch of "LAZY,WHINING LOSERS!" who sem to think their shit don't stink.

HOW DOES THAT GRAB YOU?!

In response to "Mel": there is NOTHING more important than fighting for what you believe in, regardless of what that is. Find what you believe in and spend your time fighting to protect it instead of protecting your fear by criticizing what others believe in.
