Chapter 27 will cost Peace Arch dearly.. shareholders of PAE beware

We have been contacted by many of the loyal reader of our Boycott Chapter 27 blog regarding the recent announcement by John Flock of Peace Arch Entertainment, that Chapter 27 will be released in US theaters. The recent press release claims that Chapter 27 (the film that glorifies the killer of John Lennon) will be released in March of 2008, a full 2 years after it had been completed. Many of our readers are of course very disturbed by this news and initially so were we. After reviewing the situation, we have decided that this will most likely only to serve as a huge financial catastrophe for Peace Arch. Keep in mind, just because the company has made the heartless decision to attempt to have Chapter 27 shown in theaters, it does not mean people will decide to spend their hard earned dollars to see this piece of Jared Leto and Lindsey Lohan crap. It only means that Peace Arch will spend its shareholders money attempting to convince theater owners to show the Chapter 27 trailers in hopes of generating interest. This move with undoubtedly destroy this company. The curse of Chapter 27 will go beyond Schaefer, Leto, and Lohan, it will extend to Peace Arch management and eventually the shareholders of PAE. After all these are the people ultimately responsible for the desecration of John Lennons grave.

We have included the press release below in order to show the crap being old to the shareholders and entertainment media regarding Chapter 27 and the entire Peace Arch Entertainment organization.

Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. (AMEX: PAE) (TSX: PAE), an integrated global entertainment company creating and acquiring critically acclaimed film and television programming, announced today that the Company's controversial feature film "Chapter 27" earned the Debut Feature Prize at its European premiere at the Zurich Film Festival. The prize, which was awarded to first-time director Jarrett Schaeffer, is the latest in a series of awards that the Company's feature films and television programs received during 2007.

The controversial film, a psychological drama about Mark Chapman's gradual breakdown during the days leading up to his murder of Beatle John Lennon, will begin its international theatrical release in Japan in December 2007. Peace Arch will release the Picture theatrically in the United States beginning in March 2008.

"Chapter 27" stars Jared Leto ("Requiem For A Dream," "Panic Room," "Fight Club"), Judah Friedlander ("Zoolander," "Meet The Parents") and Lindsay Lohan ("Mean Girls," "Freaky Friday," "Herbie Fully Loaded"). The film was written and directed by Jarrett Schaefer, and produced by Robert Salerno, Naomi Despres and Alexandra Milchan. "Chapter 27" had its world premiere at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival to sold-out theaters and great controversy over its subject matter. The Zurich Film Festival marked the picture's European festival premiere.

"With the much anticipated theatrical release of 'Chapter 27,' Peace Arch continues to implement its strategic initiative to become a leading theatrical distributor of critically acclaimed and commercially desirable independent films," said John Flock, President and Chief Operating Officer of Peace Arch Entertainment Group. "As we continue to grow our North American distribution operations through accretive acquisitions like Trinity Home Entertainment, expand our television operations with major events like the second season of 'The Tudors,' and build our international theatrical and television sales business with a deep lineup of new programming and library content at events like this week's MIPCOM sales market, our North American theatrical releasing component becomes a key aspect of our plan to build a fully integrated, industry-leading global entertainment company."

Peace Arch acquired Westlake Village, California-based DVD distributor Trinity Home Entertainment, one of the leading independent distributors of budget and first-run feature films in the United States, in July 2007.

Enjoy your short term financial gains made on John Lennons blood, the gains will not last long....

INSTANT KARMAS GONNA GET YA

Peace

A Little Bit More Regarding J.P.Schaefer,The Man Responsible For Chapter 27.

I have a few more things to say about the man responsible for the film Chapter 27.That man is the one and only Jarrett P.(J.P.)Schaefer.

Apparently,Mr Schaefer when he was making this film,he was trying to take a gamble with the obsession that America has for murderers. In an essay that I wrote about this obsession and even talked about Natural Born Killers and as to why Oliver Stone, who made that film, made it,I knew that Mr.Schaefer was taking a gamble when he not only wrote the script for this garbage but also chose to direct it and cast two leading actors who were very popular with the young people of America,he was taking a big calculated gamble in hopes that the young people of America would pay to see the movie and even whet the appetite for the American's obsession with murderers of all kinds.Yes,Mr.Schaefer was taking a big and even calculated gamble in hopes that when the film was picked up for distribution, the youth of America would see it by the bunches and he would be a rich man by trying to profit off of the death of a great man who is still loved and adored by those who still do and give the man who murdered him more notoriety and fame when he should be as forgotten as yesterday's newspapers.

After that much hyped and later much maligned premeires at both Sundance and AFM,we can see that Mr.Schaefer lost everything when he chose to make this film and take that ill-fated gamble when he chose to make it.Also,he never thought that even American's,who are the most obsessed people when it comes to murderers in all shapes, sizes and forms, would even think of seeing a film that puts the killer of a great and talented music artist who was also a great man and a wonderful human being especially a man who was and still is loved by American's as much as people all over the world for all the love, prayers and support that he offered the human race. That great man is John Lennon.John Lennon loved and prayed for the human race for the day when all humans would live equally and in unity without having to worry about hatred and war with only real human love ruling the day.Yes,Mr.Schaefer lost the gamble. He lost every chip that he threw in when he made this film and it wound up in the trash bin(so to speak)where it truly belongs.

As stated previously,Mr.Schaefer is currently in seclusion feeling rather depressed and very possessed by his defeat. He has been wallowing in his own self pity wondering why his little "lousy excuse of a movie" was not picked up by any distributors in the USA alone. He is also full of bitterness at the American film establishment for not giving him his much deserved chance as a serious film maker and the respectability that he was hoping for when he took this big and calculated gamble making this film in the first place. Not only that,as previously stated,he has chosen not to take a possessory credit for the film that he made all because of it.That should give all of you a clue about what was and is wrong with Jarrett P.Schaefer himself. When a film maker chooses not to take a possessory credit for a film that he made which BOMBED,that should also give you a clue about what was and is wrong with that film maker as well.We have also heard reports that while in his seclusion,he has been trying to get another script that he wrote, rumored to be called The Hidden Alice, sold to be made into a movie. The reports also showed that film maker Bronwen Hughes was selected to direct the film because he liked Mr.Schaefer's writing style and thought that he had potential to make it as a leading screenwriter. At the moment, due to the failure of Chapter 27,his chances of getting that script sold are slim and none. Not only that, nothing has been heard on this since January when that report was made public and when Chapter 27 failed as far as the USA goes.

Well Mr.Schaefer,if you are reading this,WE here at Boycott Chapter 27 have only one thing to say to you:

"BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME,BOY!"

That is,if there ever really will be a next time for you. After the dismal failure of that worthless piece of trash that you called your first foray into film making, that next time is probably NOT going to happen too soon.I think that when that real next time happens, nobody around will be interested and nobody around will even have the time to care because you will just be a forgotten memory after the dust is cleared and you are left standing all alone in your little comfort zone wondering WHY! WHY! WHY!

I don't think that there is anything more to be said.

Another Negative Review & The Far Reaching Chapter 27 Curse Reaching Epic Proportions.

As a lot of you already know, the film Chapter 27 will never see a US theatre. But there is still the reality of it coming to DVD.As of now,NO DVD release is set in stone as of yet.Peace Arch has not even disclosed any dates as of yet nor do I think that they will. Not only that, since this film has not seen a US theatre, odds of it becoming an exclusive at Blockbuster are slim and none.Mainly because most of the DVD releases that were exclusives at Blockbuster were distibuted by Genius Entertainment, which is a Weinstein owned company, and were actually theatrical releases.Since Chapter 27 did not see a US theatre,it does not stand a chance at becoming an exclusive.I know this because I bought on DVD,a previously rented horror film called Feast. It was disributed by Dimension Films and was not seen in theatres but rather,it was made for cable and it was distributed on DVD by Genius Products(both are one and the same) but it wasn't an exclusive.Again, since Chapter 27 did not see a theatrical release in the USA,the odds of it becoming an exclusive at Blockbuster are slim and none.Usually,a film has to see release in a US theatre before it can become a Blockbuster Exclusive.

Genius Entertainment have distributed DVD's of Peace Arch products in the past. The last three films that they distributed on DVD from the Archetype Pictures Division, which specializes in horror movies,of Peace Arch Entertainment were Living Death,5ive Girls and The Last Sect. This is so because I have checked out their site for Genius Products and the latter two films were on the site. But I have seen the film Living Death for rental at many stores such as Family Video. But since The Weinstein Company was one of those US distributors who did turn down Chapter 27 for theatrical distribution,I don't think that they would change their mind for DVD releases. The Weinstein Company reps who did get to see the film were not impressed by this worthless excuse of a movie and like a lot of US distributors, they passed on theatrical distribution.Good thing.I have always had a lot of respect for this talented family of film producers who actually hailed from Buffalo NY,which is in my backyard(so to speak)because I live in Niagara Falls NY.

Okay, now back to the matter at hand.

I recently stumbled upon another negative review from a site called The Oscar Igloo.Apparently, some of the IMDB users have stated that Jared Leto's performance of Lennon's murderer was worthy of an Oscar nomination and worthy of winning that coveted Academy Award known as THE Oscar, which were named after Oscar Pierce who lived in Texas.

But this review, written by Johnny Alba, disagrees with those sentiments.Below is the link to that review so you can check it out for yourself:

http://www.theoscarigloo.com/2007/reviews/chapter27.html

I also want to report that the curse known as the "Chapter 27 Curse" has reached epic proportions.First there was the story of Jared Leto contracting gout in his left foot from all the excessive weight gain and rapid weight loss.Second there were the stories of Lindsay Lohan in and out of rehab for all the drugs and alcohol that she was consuming alongside all the much publicized police arrests. But those are nothing by comparison to what has been going on with the man who was responsible for the making of the film that we are trying to boycott and why we are sharing our thoughts on this site about it.That man,as previously stated,is Jarrett P.Schaefer.Recent reports on the web and even in the media have stated that since Chapter 27 BOMBED at the Sundance Film Festival in January of this year,Mr.Schaefer has been in seclusion and has been showing extreme bitterness and being very possessed by his agonizing defeat.Mr.Schaefer has been feeling extremely depressed because his "worthless excuse of a movie" wasn't picked up by any of the top film distributors in the USA and he is really feeling the really "painful bite" that a lot of filmakers feel when they make a film that was ignored by Hollywood, especially when it's their first time in both areas, which are writing and directing. But do you know what is worse than that?I'll tell you.Mr.Schaefer has actually refused to take a possessory credit for Chapter 27.As Dean Martin once sang and even Fred Flinstone once said "Ain't That A Kick In The Head?" This should give those who were the "faithful" who defended this film and expressed how great the film was a clue as to the what and why and how as to the whole situation regarding that film and the waste of time, talent, money and even celluloid involved in making a movie that should not have been bankrolled nor even made in the first place and that their hopes in seeing the film released in US theatres are never going to be fulfilled and that they are false.Peace Arch tried to assure these hopefuls that it would see release in a US theatre and that they were still shopping it around.Well,it has been nearly 10 months since that much hyped and later much maligned premiere at Sundance and AFM,and we have seen that this film will NEVER see a US theatre and that is the best thing to happen regarding the boycott. With Mr.Schaefer wallowing in his own self pity and depression, this should show those "faithfuls" that their cause was a lost one and that they all wasted their time in defeneding Chapter 27 and the intentions behind it.All I can say is "Oh Well!"

At the moment,I can hear John's song Instant Karma in my head right now.The first line is "Instant Karma's Gonna Get You" and it applies here. With what has happened to Leto,Lohan and especially Mr.J.P.Schaefer,John Lennon was right on the money when he wrote and recorded that great infectious rocker that still holds up to this day over 27 years after it's release.Instant Karma really got Leto,Lohan and Schaefer and it will continue to get them for a long time after all this passes if it ever does really pass.

Chapter 27 will never see a US theatre but the battle is far from over. There is still the reality of it's inevitable DVD release. We'll just have to cross that bridge when we come to it if we do indeed have to cross it.

Happy Birthday John! Happy Birthday To You Wherever You Are!

It was on this day in 1940 that John Winston(Ono)Lennon was born.He was born to Fred and Julia(Stanley)Lennon. The reason why his middle name was Winston was because of his parents admiration for then England Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

For most of his childhood,John lived with his Aunt Mimi(Julia's sister)and Uncle George, who were his permanent guardians.Julia would visit him only on the weekends.John really did not know his father all too well. After his birth,John saw very little of him.Fred was going to take him away from Liverpool but Julia stepped in and said NO.After that,Fred disappeared and John never heard from him again until John became famous with The Beatles many years later. His mother was later killed by a hit and run drunk driver in 1958.He also made his first recording after this entitled My Mummy's Dead, which was later released on his second post Beatles solo album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.

In 1956,John and his band The Quarrymen, met Paul McCartney and they clicked immediately. After this,George Harrison would join the band followed by Stuart Sutcliffe. After the demise of The Quarrymen,John,Paul,George and Stu would continue together in search of fame and fortune, which according to John, was "just around the corner, providing we choose the right corner."

Pete Best, who they met via Alan Marshall, their first manager, joined and they went to Hamburg. It was during these days that they met Tony Sheridan and they would record some songs that would help the Beatles(as the Beat Brothers)enhance their chances for fame. After these sessions and a German hit with My Bonnie c/w The Saints, the band returned to Liverpool and would meet up with Brian Epstein at the Cavern Club during the lunch time show.Brian immediately offered to manage them and they accepted. After a tumultuous time for nearly a year trying to get a label deal,Brian finally got what he was hoping for when he met George Martin at Parlophone Records, who actually wanted to meet the band. After that historic meeting,a recording date was set and after Brian sacked Pete Best due to John,Paul & George's refusal to do so because of their love for him,Richard Starkey(a.k.a.Ringo Starr)would join the band permanently and the rest was history until 1970 when the band forever disbanded after the release of their final album and film entitled Let It Be.

Throughout the early 1970's,John Lennon continued to record solo and would become successful. His biggest and best album was Imagine, which hit #1 in both the UK and the US at the same time, would also feature his most beloved and enduring song of the same name. After this, subsequent albums varied in quality and chart success. But it was all proof that John Lennon was never afraid to take any chances with the music he was writing. He also co-wrote Fame with David Bowie and Carlos Alomar, which would also go to #1 in the USA.He would also produce Harry Nilsson's Pussy Cats album and his marriage to the love of his life,Yoko Ono,endured a 14 month separation, which became known as The Lost Weekend. After his final live appearance, which had John perform Whatever Gets You Through The Night with Elton John on Thanksgiving night in front of a sold out crowd in 1974,he reconciled with Yoko Ono backstage and he and her made plans for the rest of their lives together. In 1975,after he released two more albums,Rock & Roll and a hits compilation Shaved Fish,John chose to put his musical carrer on hold to help Yoko raise their newborn son Sean Taro Ono Lennon, who was born on Lennon's 35th birthday.

Also, during all of this,He also fought with US Immigration to stay in the USA.Many believed that Richard Nixon was behind the conspiracy to remove Lennon due to his views about the Vietnam War and fearing that Lennon was igniting and inspiring the youth of America to rebel. On July 27th 1976,John Lennon finally got his Green Card to allow him to live permanently in the USA.Judge Ira Fieldsteel approved his application. He also would make occasional public appearances. He also became friends with Howard Cosell, who actually offered him $1,000,000 to be shared with the band if The Beatles reunited on his Saturday Night with Howard Cosell show on ABC.John,of course, wanted for it to happen but it was not meant to be due to all the personal problems that were apparent at the time.In their place, the current teen pop phenonemon at the time,The Bay City Rollers, appeared in place of The Fab Four.Lorne Michaels also offered money for a reunion on Saturday Night Live but again, the offer was refused.Instead,George Harrison and Eric Idle appeared on that episode, with John,Paul,Yoko & Linda watching the show in Lennon's apartment at the Dakota.

In 1980,John announced that he was making a comeback to music. He also announced the release of his forthcoming comeback album entitled Double Fantasy:A Heart Play. When released, the album went all the way to #1 in both the UK and the US and John Lennon was also planning to tour on the album the next year.

In 1970,John Lennon claimed in his first post Beatles break-up interview regarding him and Yoko:

" I Hope That We Are A Nice Old Couple Living Off The Coast Of Ireland Or Somewhere.Looking At Our Scrapbook Of Madness."

Unfortunately, that was not meant to be.The end came much too quickly. On December 8th 1980,John Lennon, alongside Yoko Ono,was returning from a recording session for an upcoming album, which would be released nearly 4 years later as Milk & Honey:A Heart Play because he wanted to see his son Sean before he went to sleep, when he was approached by someone who called out to him with a handgun loaded and ready and fired nearly six times at him hitting him four times.Lennon was pronounced dead nearly a half hour later at Roosevelt Medical Center and to this day,we are still remembering him and showing our love for him throughout the world. His music continues to live on and his memory still lives on within our hearts.

His killer, who shall remain nameless because of this, continues to serve a 20 year to life prison term, which he will probably stay in until the day he dies.

He would have been 67 years of age if he were alive today.Instead of wishing him Happy Birthday and eagerly awaiting any albums,if he were still recording and performing,we are actually wishing that he was still here with us.

On Saturday night,I sang a tribute to John Lennon by singing some of his great songs to a positive review from the crowd.I do it every year when his birthday and the anniversary of his murder roll around.

Rest In Peace,John Lennon. We will always love you and remember you. Thanks for giving us such great music that we are still enjoying to this day. Thanks again John. You were truly one of "The Greatest Men Who Ever Lived."

Rumors are just that, No Chapter 27 release scheduled in the US

As a quick follow-up to a recent post on Boycott Chapter 27, we have all but confirmed that Peace Arch Entertainment will NOT be releasing Chapter 27 in US theaters. Neither Lohan or Jared Leto have even mentioned this film since its' horrible reviews at The Sundance Film Festival.
