"Now I'll be famous" - The larger problem with Chapter 27

Although many who read our blog are compelled to write us emails about our "wasted time" and our "over the top" love for John Lennon and The Beatles, we would like to step away from Chapter 27 for just a moment to remember those killed in Omaha yesterday.
Why did a young man walk in to a shopping mall and kill 8 innocent Holiday Shoppers?
The explanation was in his note......"Now I'll be famous"

We have no way of knowing this persons demons, but can you see our point on Chapter 27?
It's bigger than John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Lindsay Lohan, and Jared Leto. Its much bigger than Boycott call against Peace Arch Entertainment.
It's learning from history, hoping to prevent future tragedies similar to the assassination of John Lennon.
If Actors and production companies are willing to profit from Johns murder, how can we be surprised that history repeats itself.

Man Opens Fire at Omaha Mall, Killing 8
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A man opened fire with a rifle at a busy department store Wednesday, killing eight people in an attack that made holiday shoppers run screaming through a mall and barricade themselves in dressing rooms.

The young shooter, who left a note predicting, "Now I'll be famous," wounded five others, two critically, then took his own life.

Witnesses said the gunman sprayed fired down on shoppers from a third- floor balcony of the Von Maur store using what police said was an SKS assault rifle they found at the scene.

The Chapter 27 trailer has been released. As expected, Lennons killer is made a like-able character. Jared Leto you SUCK!!

As we watched the trailer for Chapter 27, we were absolutely amazed that the people involved in this film not only made John Lennons murderer (Jared Leto) into a "like-able" and "sympathetic" character, but he is shown somewhat of a hero (in the trailer aimed at teens). Wooing the female Beatles fan (Lindsay Lohan) and seemingly winning her affection.
We never could have imagined that Peace Arch Entertainment could have gone as far as they did in presenting this film in such a positive light. John Flock how can you sleep at night?

We fought with ourselves and argued, with tempers flaring, as to whether or no to show this trailer on our website. We do apologize to our readers who feel we have done the wrong thing by showing this trailer. Unfortunately, despite all of our efforts, it has become clear that Peace Arch has every intention of not only releasing this film in theaters (and later DVD), but that the trailer will be running on national television. As such, we felt it best to present the trailer to further prove our point that not only are they looking to profit from John Lennon's death, but will probably be helping Johns' killer to eventually get paroled.

Please do not reward Peace Arch Entertainment by allowing them to profit from the murder of one of the great peaceful men of the 20th century.

Take your $8 and donate it to a Childrens' Charity or you personal favorite non-profit.

Please explain to teenagers and people in their 20's that Lindsay Lohan and Jared Leto are doing fans of Art and Peace a horrible disservice by presenting Johns' killer in the light in which they have chosen to do so.
This film does nothing more than setting the example that if a sick individual wants to gain fame and "live" forever, all they must do is murder a famous person. How could anyone in the entertainment industry portray this type of individual in a positive light?

"Chapter 27" and "The Killing of John Lennon" are two examples of the evil of living for MONEY!! When nothing matters more than profit, Where is the human race headed?

REMEMBER JOHN, NOT HIS KILLER!!!!!!!!

Boycott Chapter 27

This is an awesome tribute to John. Helping us all remember the man that inspired so many and taken by one!!!!!!!
Thank You, Beatleologist for this fantastic work!!!

Chapter 27 will cost Peace Arch dearly.. shareholders of PAE beware

We have been contacted by many of the loyal reader of our Boycott Chapter 27 blog regarding the recent announcement by John Flock of Peace Arch Entertainment, that Chapter 27 will be released in US theaters. The recent press release claims that Chapter 27 (the film that glorifies the killer of John Lennon) will be released in March of 2008, a full 2 years after it had been completed. Many of our readers are of course very disturbed by this news and initially so were we. After reviewing the situation, we have decided that this will most likely only to serve as a huge financial catastrophe for Peace Arch. Keep in mind, just because the company has made the heartless decision to attempt to have Chapter 27 shown in theaters, it does not mean people will decide to spend their hard earned dollars to see this piece of Jared Leto and Lindsey Lohan crap. It only means that Peace Arch will spend its shareholders money attempting to convince theater owners to show the Chapter 27 trailers in hopes of generating interest. This move with undoubtedly destroy this company. The curse of Chapter 27 will go beyond Schaefer, Leto, and Lohan, it will extend to Peace Arch management and eventually the shareholders of PAE. After all these are the people ultimately responsible for the desecration of John Lennons grave.

We have included the press release below in order to show the crap being old to the shareholders and entertainment media regarding Chapter 27 and the entire Peace Arch Entertainment organization.

Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. (AMEX: PAE) (TSX: PAE), an integrated global entertainment company creating and acquiring critically acclaimed film and television programming, announced today that the Company's controversial feature film "Chapter 27" earned the Debut Feature Prize at its European premiere at the Zurich Film Festival. The prize, which was awarded to first-time director Jarrett Schaeffer, is the latest in a series of awards that the Company's feature films and television programs received during 2007.

The controversial film, a psychological drama about Mark Chapman's gradual breakdown during the days leading up to his murder of Beatle John Lennon, will begin its international theatrical release in Japan in December 2007. Peace Arch will release the Picture theatrically in the United States beginning in March 2008.

"Chapter 27" stars Jared Leto ("Requiem For A Dream," "Panic Room," "Fight Club"), Judah Friedlander ("Zoolander," "Meet The Parents") and Lindsay Lohan ("Mean Girls," "Freaky Friday," "Herbie Fully Loaded"). The film was written and directed by Jarrett Schaefer, and produced by Robert Salerno, Naomi Despres and Alexandra Milchan. "Chapter 27" had its world premiere at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival to sold-out theaters and great controversy over its subject matter. The Zurich Film Festival marked the picture's European festival premiere.

"With the much anticipated theatrical release of 'Chapter 27,' Peace Arch continues to implement its strategic initiative to become a leading theatrical distributor of critically acclaimed and commercially desirable independent films," said John Flock, President and Chief Operating Officer of Peace Arch Entertainment Group. "As we continue to grow our North American distribution operations through accretive acquisitions like Trinity Home Entertainment, expand our television operations with major events like the second season of 'The Tudors,' and build our international theatrical and television sales business with a deep lineup of new programming and library content at events like this week's MIPCOM sales market, our North American theatrical releasing component becomes a key aspect of our plan to build a fully integrated, industry-leading global entertainment company."

Peace Arch acquired Westlake Village, California-based DVD distributor Trinity Home Entertainment, one of the leading independent distributors of budget and first-run feature films in the United States, in July 2007.

Enjoy your short term financial gains made on John Lennons blood, the gains will not last long....

The Chapter 27 curse will not be denied

Lindsay Lohan has been sued by an event supply company in small claims court over a car accident and it's not even the one that got her thrown into rehab recently. The company claims that Lindsay Lohan caused damage to one of their vans about a year and a half ago and that the Georgia Rule star has ignored requests for her to foot the bill.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, on October 4th, 2005, Lindsay Lohan was heading north on Robertson Boulevard when she crashed her Mercedes convertible into a maroon Chevy Astro Van that was making an illegal U-turn. The police determined, according to E!, that the paparazzi, who Lohan blamed for the accident, were not a factor in the collision. Lohan claimed that the accident was "another example of the paparazzi endangering citizens." A reporter claimed that Lindsay Lohan was driving really fast.

VISIT RUPEE.US - SUPPORT BOYCOTT CHAPTER 27 . ORG

E! reports that the driver of the Chevy Astro Van was rushed to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries while Lindsay Lohan and a passenger spent time in a nearby boutique waiting for the police. Lindsay Lohan and her friend were taken to the hospital eventually for minor injuries. The van that Lindsay Lohan hit smashed into a white parked van that belonged to Grandeur Inc. and caused $3,624.84 in damages, according to a complaint filed on May 18th at the Beverly Hills Courthouse and obtained by E!

The CEO of Grandeur, Florian Loeckle, claims that he sent a letter to Lindsay Lohan that was ignored. That could be because Lindsay Lohan is currently in rehab being treated for addiction to various drugs and alcohol. Lindsay Lohan is at Promises, the famous rehab center, after crashing her car (for the third time - the Grandeur incident was the second) and police allegedly finding cocaine in her car. Lindsay Lohan entered Promises on May 28th and will reportedly be released around the end of this month.

Lindsay is a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, even though she's not legally old enough to drink yet. That date will come on July 2nd. After the most recent Golden Globe Awards, Lohan went on a drinking binge and ended up in the Wonderland rehab centre. After the arrest, Svedka Vodka, an actual sponsor for the birthday party planned for Lindsay Lohan, backed out of that deal. Mother Dina Lohan recently confirmed that Lindsay Lohan is still attending AA.

Lindsay Lohan will next be seen I Know Who Killed Me and Chapter 27 and, for now, you can still catch Georgia Rule in theaters. The 20-year-old Lohan, most recently named the hottest woman in the world by Maxim, can also be caught on DVD in The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, Herbie Fully Loaded, A Prairie Home Companion, Just My Luck, and Bobby.

Chapter 27 - The trailer - The movie - THE SHAME

It's unlikely that this letter will win me many friends or even garner much attention. However, writing it is the only way I know to prevent the production of a new crop of prudish lunkheads. For practical reasons, I have to confine my discussion to areas that have received insufficient public attention or in which I have something new to say. I want to live my life as I see fit. I can't do that while Chapter 27 The Movie still has the ability to advocate unregenerate grievances. The public is like a giant that Chapter 27 The Movie has blindfolded, drugged, and gagged. BOXER SHORTS at GOLFBOXERS.COM This giant has plugs in his ears and Chapter 27 The Movie leads him around by the nose. Clearly, such a giant needs to eschew batty negativism. That's why I feel obligated to notify the giant (i.e., the public) that Chapter 27 The Movie is too pigheaded to read the writing on the wall. This writing warns that its associates argue that the best way to serve one's country is to discredit legitimate voices in the egotism debate. These are the same feeble-minded deviants who turn positions of leadership into positions of complacency. This is no coincidence; Chapter 27 The Movie has announced its intentions to develop a Pavlovian reflex in us, to make us afraid to deal with it appropriately. While doing so may earn Chapter 27 The Movie a gold star from the mush-for-brains hooliganism crowd, the central paradox of its wisecracks, the twist that makes its tirades so irresistible to the worst sorts of damnable, heinous sideshow barkers there are, is that these people truly believe that there is an international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Who is behind the decline of our civilization? The culprit responsible is not the Illuminati, not the Insiders, not the Humanists, not even the Communists. No, the decline of our civilization is attributable primarily to Chapter 27 The Movie. In order to maintain harmony with my conscience I must investigate Chapter 27 The Movie's insidious, meddlesome principles, ideals, and objectives, the point being that scurrilous vulgarians like it tend to conveniently ignore the key issues of this or any other situation. Of that I am certain, because I overheard one of its apostles say, "Chapter 27 The Movie is known for its sound judgment, unerring foresight, and sagacious adaptation of means to ends." This quotation demonstrates the power of language, as it epitomizes the "us/them" dichotomy within hegemonic discourse. As for me, I prefer to use language to establish clear, justifiable definitions of simplism and fascism so that you can defend a decision to take action when Chapter 27 The Movie's subalterns make people suspicious of those who speak the truth.

HAVE YOU SEEN RUPEE??

I can't follow Chapter 27 The Movie's pretzel logic. I do, however, know that even when it isn't lying, Chapter 27 The Movie's using facts, emphasizing facts, bearing down on facts, sliding off facts, quietly ignoring facts, and, above all, interpreting facts in a way that will enable it to fix blame for social stress, economic loss, or loss of political power on a target group whose constructed guilt provides a simplistic explanation. Several things Chapter 27 The Movie has said have brought me to the boiling point. The statement of its that made the strongest impression on me, however, was something to the effect of how we have too much freedom. I am deliberately using colorful language in this letter. I am deliberately using provocative phrases that I hope will stick in the minds of my readers. I do ensure, however, that my words are always appropriate and accurate and clearly explain how Chapter 27 The Movie wants to impale us on the pike of Maoism. What's wrong with that? What's wrong is Chapter 27 The Movie's gossamer grasp of reality.

There are two main flaws with Chapter 27 The Movie's tractates: 1) Chapter 27 The Movie's mercenaries care more about speaking, acting, and even thinking like Chapter 27 The Movie than they care about what makes sense, and 2) Chapter 27 The Movie has a natural talent for complaining. It can find any aspect of life and whine about it for hours upon hours. Chapter 27 The Movie needs to stop living in denial. It needs to wake up and realize that it has two imperatives. The first is to make serious dialogue difficult or impossible. The second imperative is to put the prisoners in charge of running the prison.

Now the surprising news: If the human race is to survive on this planet, we will have to make this world a better place in which to live. Having studied Chapter 27 The Movie's charges and finding them groundless, I must now tell the world that when I say that its asseverations are dysfunctional, I mean it. I don't mean that they remind me of something dysfunctional or that they have one or two dysfunctional characteristics. I mean that they are dysfunctional. In fact, the most dysfunctional thing about them is the way that they prevent people from seeing that Chapter 27 The Movie is guilty of at least one criminal offense. In addition, it frequently exhibits less formal criminal behavior, such as deliberate and even gleeful cruelty, explosive behavior, and a burning desire to eroticize relations of dominance and subordination.

Listen up: Chapter 27 The Movie twists every argument into some sort of "struggle" between two parties. Chapter 27 The Movie unvaryingly constitutes the underdog party, which is what it claims gives it the right to crush the remaining vestiges of democracy throughout the world. I would sooner let Chapter 27 The Movie force me to crawl under a rock and die than become one of its toadies. That shouldn't surprise you when you consider that the impact of its fastidious intimations is exactly that predicted by the Book of Revelation. Evil will preside over the land. Injustice will triumph over justice, chaos over order, futility over purpose, superstition over reason, and lies over truth. Only when humanity experiences this Hell on Earth will it fully appreciate that Chapter 27 The Movie has, on a number of occasions, expressed a desire to overthrow all concepts of beauty and sublimity, of the noble and the good, and instead drag people down into the sphere of its own base nature. On all of these occasions, I submitted to the advice of my friends, who assured me that we've all heard it yammer and whine about how it's being scapegoated again, the poor dear.

We must try our level best to criticize Chapter 27 The Movie's fulminations publically for their formalistic categories, their spurious claims of neutrality, and their blindness to the abuse of private power. And that's where we are right now. It would be nice to say that namby-pamby fogyism doesn't exist anymore, but we all know that it does.

Chapter 27 The Movie is living in cloud-cuckoo-land. Enough said. The basal lie that underlies all of Chapter 27 The Movie's piteous off-the-cuff comments is that unilateralism is a be-all, end-all system that should be forcefully imposed upon us. Translation: It is not only acceptable, but indeed desirable, to allow federally funded research to mushroom into a loquacious, grossly inefficient system, hampered by twisted pip-squeaks and the most snarky carpetbaggers I've ever seen. I doubt you need any help from me to identify the supreme idiocy of those views, but you should nevertheless be aware that if Chapter 27 The Movie is victorious in its quest to supply the chains that bind the individual to notions of self-loathing and unworthiness, then its crown will be the funeral wreath of humanity. What I want to document now is that it may seem difficult at first to transform our culture of war and violence into a culture of peace and nonviolence. It is. But Chapter 27 The Movie argues that it has mystical powers of divination and prophecy. I wish I could suggest some incontrovertible chain of apodictic reasoning that would overcome this argument, but the best I can do is the following: It must have some sort of problem with reading comprehension. That's the only explanation I can come up with as to why it accuses me of admitting that its taradiddles provide a liberating insight into life, the universe, and everything. What I actually said is that if the only way to encourage our spirits to soar is for me to have to fight with one hand tied behind my back, then so be it. It would clearly be worth it because by brainwashing its factotums with parasitism, it makes them easy to lead, easy to program, and easy to enslave.

Chapter 27 The Movie upholds sin as sacred. Only a true-blue irrational ghastly-type or one who is thoroughly clueless about demagogism could claim otherwise. Drugged-out classism is a disgrace to humanity, but it cannot be eliminated by moral lectures or by pious intentions. No, it can be eradicated only if we free people from the fetters of defeatism's poisonous embrace. The poisonous wine of narcissism had been distilled long before Chapter 27 The Movie entered the scene. Chapter 27 The Movie is merely the agent decanting the poisonous fluid from its bottle into the jug that is world humanity.

Your guess is as good as mine as to why Chapter 27 The Movie wants to call evil good and good evil. Maybe it's because it plans to humiliate, subjugate, and eventually eliminate everyone who wants to go placidly amid the noise and haste. Chapter 27 The Movie does not want to create a global workers plantation overseen by transnational corporations who have no more concern for the human rights of those who produce their products or services than Chapter 27 The Movie has for its vicegerents because it is evil, despicable, ophidian, and rash (though, granted, it is all of the aforementioned), but rather because I am not concerned with rumors or hearsay about it. I am interested only in ascertained facts attested by published documents, and in these primarily as an illustration that Chapter 27 The Movie has recently been going around claiming that prætorianism is the key to world peace. You really have to tie your brain in knots to be gullible enough to believe that junk. It should come as no big shock to anyone that Chapter 27 The Movie's intent is to prevent us from asking questions. It doesn't want the details checked. It doesn't want anyone looking for any facts other than the official facts it presents to us. I wonder if this is because most of its "facts" are false. We don't have to stand for this! So, sorry for being so long-winded in this letter, but Chapter 27 The Movie considers it fair game to relabel millions of people as "illiterate".

Breaking News and mixed emotions as "free" copies of Chapter 27 available online

Stealing is wrong...no question about it
Attempting to profit from John Lennons murder is wrong

Well, let me just say that we generally believe that "file sharing" or "stealing content" is wrong, and we personally have absolutely no interest in seeing this film, as the very idea sickens us. But, if your are compelled to see this movie for any reason at all, it has been brought to our attention, that the entire film is available through various peer2peer websites, including LimeWire.
We will not give direct links, as we still believe the best move is to completely avoid this film and the people involved with it. (Chapter 27 is produced by Peace Arch Entertainment and stars Lindsey Lohan and Jared Leto), but if you were to google "Chapter.27.2007.DVDRiP.XViD-DvF-23-03-07-pass" (a torrent? what is that anyway?) or something along those lines, you might find this movie for FREE. At the very least you will not be rewarding Peace Arch Entertainment with the blood money they desire. As well as spreading the word of just what a piece of crap Chapter 27 is, as to have people avoid it at BlockBuster if it ever gets released on DVD. Oh, I heard if you search "Chapter 27" on LimeWire and find a 700mb file, it may save you from wasting $10 in the future. This is more than a trailer for Chapter 27, from what we've been told.
You might try Tomato Torrent, you can find the software if you google it, than google Chapter 27 boycott and sign our petition.

PEACE

F...Jackie and Stuttering John
Hiii Fred

We hope you choose not to see this film, but if you must, not reward these dirtbags.

Revisisting a film concept not far off from Chapter 27

New Film; Jared Leto starring as Hitler, Lindsey Lohan as Eva Braun

In a new film being developed by Peace Arch Entertainment Jared Leto (MDC in Chapter 27) will be starring, as a wholesome Hitler and Lindsey Lohan (also appearing in the movie Chapter 27) will be his beloved and sweet Eva Braun.

Would we really compare the killer of John Lennon to Hitler...of course not, but the point is; Are Hollywood "stars" willing to take any role for money? After all, if you can turn the killer of Beatle great and peace hero John Lennon’s killer in to a "likeable" character utilizing teen idols to sell tickets to Chapter 27, can a headline similar to the one above be far off.
Please join us in stopping Chapter 27 and ensuring failure for Peace Arch Entertainment in their bid to profit off of a true disaster. The destruction of a Husband, a father, and a peaceful man attempting to enlighten the world with his words, music, and actions.

Remember when a 13 year old girl goes to see the movie with Lindsey Lohan about "the guy who killed one of the Beatles, the Beatles?...Yeah my parents listened to them."
How much more was John Lennon than one of the Beatles...now his murderer get to increase on the fame he desires. The fame he was looking for when he shot a man, a great man, for no reason other than fame which Peace Arch Entertainment, Jared Leto, and Lindsey Lohan are providing him with.

Major Boycott Chapter 27 mention in popular comingsoon.net

If there was any question that our Boycott is raising awareness, read below, as we are mentioned in a recent article on comingsoon.net. Chapter 27 is going down, along with Peace Arch Entertainment.
Sundance EXCL: The Makers of Chapter 27
Source: Edward Douglas
February 1, 2007

On December 8, 1980, former Beatles frontman John Lennon was shot dead in front of his home at the Dakota in New York City by Mark David Chapman, and to this day, it's still a touchy subject among Lennon's millions of fans.

When Jarrett Schaefer's Chapter 27, a drama about Chapman's days before the shooting, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival last week, a lot of critics took exception with the nature of the film and its slow and deliberate pace. Just as many were impressed by the transformation actor Jared Leto went through to take on the part of Chapman, gaining over 60 pounds in a move that mirrors Robert De Niro in Raging Bull. Loosely based on the book "Let Me Take You Down" which collected Jack Jones' interviews with Chapman, the film is Schaefer's debut as a filmmaker, and it's essentially a one-man movie following Chapman's time in New York leading up to the shooting with occasional satellite characters like Lindsay Lohan as a fellow fan and Judah Friedlander as a photographer.

The movie isn't nearly as bad as one might believe from the hatred toward the film seen on sites like BoycottChapter27.org. (A lot of people seem to be angry about the concept of a film that might do anything to glorify John Lennon's killer.)

ComingSoon.net also had a few issues and questions about the movie after seeing it, so when we had a chance to sit down with Schaefer and the film's producer Bob Salerno, we asked some of the questions that may have puzzled some of those who've already seen the movie.

ComingSoon.net: I haven't read Jack Jones' book and I don't know too much about Chapman's days before the murder. When I saw the movie, there seemed to be things that to me seemed to be made up. Then I went and looked up the case and learned that all of the stuff shown in the movie really happened. Can you talk about the research to create this film or was most of that in Jones' book?
Jarrett (dirtbag) Schaefer: The Jack Jones book is a phenomenal piece of writing. I think it's based on 400, could be even more, hours of interviews, with Mark Chapman.
Bob Salerno: He's probably the only person Mark spoke to in this kind of detail, is that right?
Schaefer: Right. [The book] deals with more than just the 3 days in New York City, it's his whole life, it's birth, childhood, early relationships, the trial, time in prison, what his life is like now. Barbara Walters interviewed Chapman in Attica. He was on Larry King Live. People Magazine did a series of three articles. There's not a tremendous amount, but it's fairly well documented. And of course, there's police statements, parole hearings. Once you get arrested for a crime, they ask you a bunch of questions and get all the details.

CS: Why did you decide to just focus on his three days in New York City?
Schaefer: Several reasons. (oh, your so wise Jarrett) I've never been interested in any kind of Freudian analysis of this person, "Daddy beat me so I…" I'm a minimalist. I wanted to create something pure. "The Catcher in the Rye" takes place over 3 days in New York City from Saturday 'til Monday in early December. By freak coincidence, this person was in New York City on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, same place where Holden lives, from a Saturday to a Monday in December.
Salerno: It's really interesting because I read "Catcher in the Rye" in high school and I really kind of forgot a lot of it until I read the script, then I kind of reread the book. If you go back and reread the book in fact there are a lot of interesting parallels that are going on throughout.

CS: Obviously, "Catcher in the Rye" was part of Chapman's whole being, so did you make those connections even before starting to work on the movie?
Schaefer: It's multiple connections. It's not just that one. There's a moment where this person was in prison where he realized the initial coincidences, where he reread "The Catcher in the Rye" and began make a list of all the similarities. He made a list of around 200. These are false coincidences, not that they mean anything. This is his mind searching to excuse himself or give this crime meaning.

CS: As far as the inner dialogue or narrative running through Chapman's head, was a lot of that taken directly from the book?
Schaefer: This character is sort of in the style of Holden Caulfield, him trying on the identity and trying to act out and reaching for the connection with the book and trying to be Holden and trying to have his idea of his time in New York being this idea of "Chapter 27."

CS: A lot of people are talking about the amazing transformation that Jared went through for the movie. How did you end up getting him for the role? Did he get the script and decide that he wanted to do it and would do whatever it takes to play the part?
Schaefer: That's about right. Jared read it and was willing to commit himself fully.
Salerno: He really dove in like headfirst into becoming this character and doing this. The weight gain was very difficult for him, because he's not a naturally heavy guy, so he was constantly eating and putting this on and becoming the character. He actually became the same weight as Mark Chapman. By the end of the film, he actually got to Mark's actual weight. They obviously had different body structures, but Jared Leto was very heavy there. There's no prosthetics.

CS: You showed a lot of scenes with him shirtless just to drive home that point. Then of course, he had to lose all the weight to be able to do his rock band thing.
Salerno: I don't think it was too difficult for him to lose it. He performs on stage all the time and he's jumping around.
Schaefer: The next time I lose 60 to 70 pounds, I'm going to say, "It wasn't too hard." Come on. It's unbelievable.

CS: When you were working with him on the movie, what was going through his head in terms of his mindset about being that much heavier than normal? Did he stay in the Chapman character the whole time or was he able to be Jared Leto, just heavier?
Schaefer: Well, I mean he's so committed, he didn't have too much interest… I don't want to speak for him or what his process is, but it's not staying in character as much as living and breathing and trying to maintain this space. In addition to doing things with his body, he was doing things with his voice and things with his mind. I was asking him to thing some really dark thoughts and think about these experiences that this character did to work himself into a state where he could pull the trigger. It's not an easy thing to do even when you're out of your mind.
Salerno: I think given the fact that he gained all this weight over a month or two, 60 somewhat pounds is a lot of weight, I think that in itself winds up having a mental debilitation on you as well. Even though it's for a role, I think it probably helped him in a way. I think there was some mental debilitation going on that worked for him.

CS: Even 26 years later, the shooting of John Lennon is still a very touchy subject, since he was loved by so many people. Could you talk first about shooting at the Dakota, how many days you ended up shooting and how you got permission to shoot there?
Schaefer: We approached them about what we wanted to do. This is a film about the fans waiting outside, so we were never actually on Dakota property, but we were always in communication with the people who represent the building.
Salerno: The building management. What we officially did is our locations manager approached the building manager to request permission to shoot there. They didn't want us to actually shoot there, so that was fine with us, we didn't expect to. The city allows us to shoot on public sidewalks. We worked out with the Dakota that it would only be a certain amount of days, I think it was 7 or 8 days that we were actually allowed to shoot in front of the Dakota. We wanted to be respectful throughout the entire film as well, even though we weren't shooting on the Dakota property, so we did stay in constant contact with the building, and we worked with them. And if we were in their way or they felt they needed some space, they would come to us and ask if we could move over and we always respected that.

CS: Did you have to recreate part of the building somewhere else for the actual shooting? I can't imagine them wanting you to do that there.
Schaefer: Yes, no one wanted to bring an actor dressed as John Lennon to the Dakota, and no one wanted to have Jared's character taking out a gun at the real Dakota. It's all the PG stuff that happens in front of the real Dakota, all the darker things were shot on a soundstage in Brooklyn and our production designer made a stage that has fooled them all.

CS: I wanted to ask about the other people in Chapman and Lennon's lives. Does Mark Chapman still have any family that might have taken issue with this movie?
Schaefer: He's married. I believe his mother died and I'm not sure about his father, he may still be alive.

CS: Did Mark and/or Yoko Ono know that you were making this movie?
Salerno: We were in front of the building. Obviously, it's a difficult thing for someone who personally goes through this, and so we tried to respect that. We did shoot at the Dakota, but tried not to do anything that was graphic. We felt it would be in bad taste to do that. I don't' know how she feels about the film. We haven't approached her. We don't have any plans or intentions to approach her to show it. I'm sure if she wanted to, she'd be more than welcome to see it, but I can't imagine [her coming to us].
Schaefer: No one went up to Attica. We didn't talk to this guy. I think Jared had some conversations with people who knew him and that's about as far… I didn't do it. I know he talked to Barbara Walters who interviewed him and he talked to his ex-girlfriend.

CS: The movie's very slow or as you called it "minimalist." It was funny that you actually made a joke about the movie's pace with a reference to "Rosemary's Baby." I assume that wasn't a conversation they really had, but I was curious why you put that joke in there.
Schaefer: Well, I don't have too much beef with filmmakers, but I do tend to not like films that don't have jokes i to Mark's family or Yoko Ono ton them. I don't go through a day on this planet where I don't laugh. Humor's a part of life. Hopefully, there's a joke or two in this very serious, very dark film. A lot of people are scared of saying something like "Rosemary's Baby is really slow and nothing happens until the end." "Chapter 27" is so heightened and aware in a way. You have Lindsay Lohan, the biggest star in the world, playing a fan and talking about fame. There's a photographer hanging out right next to her and he's not taking her picture, know what I mean? So it is self-aware and it is heightened in several sense already. Jaret's a musician, Lindsay's a musician, this is a film about rock 'n' roll, this is a film about the dark side of celebrity, something that these two actors have experience with to be sure. In addition to his brilliant film and TV work and comedy, Judah Friedlander is known for being on "Best Week Ever," so we've already got this celebrity commentary and what it means to be watched in the center of the storm happening on several levels. I've never been afraid of humor. I've never been afraid of over-determining a film or being self-aware. Every one of Hitchcock's films are self-reflexive on a level. You have to be aware that you're making a film. And there's no disrespect to the realists of the world.

CS: How was it shooting with Jared and Lindsay in that high traffic area outside the Dakota, considering their fame? It would seem like almost an impossible feat to get anything done.
Salerno: For Jarrett, there was a lot of big things--it's a big topic, big subject and big movie stars. It was not always easy. Trying to shoot Lindsay on her first day and photographers were jumping in front of the camera to get Jared and Lindsay pictures together. It definitely made things more complicated, on top of the normal complications that you would have as a first-time filmmaker or as any filmmaker shooting on location in New York, which is always busy and crowded.
Schaefer: I knew it was going to be difficult and you try and preempt as many difficulties as you can, but that only gets you so far. I'm excited because everyone keeps telling me the next one is going to be a piece of cake.

Chapter 27 played over the weekend at the Sundance Film Festival and is still looking for distribution for its inevitable theatrical release (inevitable...your biggest mistake in this article and interview) We don't appreciate the press for Chapter 27, but we do appreciate the metion and link as it is sure to raise awareness to young people of just how wrong this movie is.

Boycott Chapter 27 wants to offer a special thanks to Nordberg Studios

Our inside Hollywood sources had informed us that Nordberg Studios of NYC turned down working with Peace Arch Entertainment on Chapter 27 because they felt so strongly about honoring Yoko and Paul's request to keep John Lennons killer from obtaining the fame he desired. When we called to thank them for being "Good and Honorable People", they donated additional bandwidth to handle our increased traffic flow (Due to the Boycott Chapter 27 demonstrations at Sundance.) We highly recommend them for any audio production needs you may have. We look forward to working with them in the near future.

And as I'm sure most of you have seen in our last 2 posts the initial reviews out of Sundance have been disastrous for Peace Arch regarding Chapter 27. It appears at this point that they will NOT get a US distribution deal!!!!! Next we go to work on blocking Chapter 27 DVD sales!!!!

Klipsch Audio - your out!!! Supporting Chapter 27...Disgraceful

Klipsch Audio, your on our list. How could such an "intelligent" company support Peace Arch Entertainment and Chapter 27? We your consumers are very disappointed on your decision. Consider for a moment how many great John Lennon songs are played on your equipment. How much more additional speaker systems would be sold if John Lennon was still making music today? Bad Choice Klipsch.
Sundance -- Klipsch Audio Technologies announced today that it is hosting the upcoming post-premiere parties for two of Sundance Film Festival's most anticipated films: "Black Snake Moan," starring Samuel L. Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Christina Ricci, and "Chapter 27," with Jared Leto and Lindsay Lohan. The post-premiere party for "Black Snake Moan" will be held on January 24 and "Chapter 27's" will be held on January 25 in Park City, UT. Both events promise to be main destinations for top stars, and will serve as a celebration of Klipsch Audio Technologies' growing commitment to organically supporting cinema's most compelling independent films.

"Klipsch Audio Technologies has chosen to support 'Black Snake Moan' and 'Chapter 27' because these two extraordinary films and its stars echo our core values of power, detail and emotion," said Judy Klipsch (you suck...poor decision), Vice Chairman of the Klipsch Group. "Partnering with these films and supporting their releases is a natural fit for the brand, as the stars in these films have made successful crossovers from film to music, music to film, just as Klipsch has expanded beyond its core strength of audio technology to achieve greatness."

The collaboration between both films and Klipsch, a leader in home entertainment and audio technology, is part of the company's ongoing involvement in the entertainment industry at large. As part of their commitment to supporting the film industry, in 2005, Klipsch outfitted the historical Aidikoff Theater in Beverly Hills with a state-of-the-art cinema sound system in order to provide the ultimate sound experience for screenings for celebrities, industry influencers and the press. In addition, Klipsch has executed numerous entertainment marketing initiatives in both film and music at marquee events such as the MTV Video Music Awards, the ESPY Awards, the Grammys, and the Sundance Film Festival.

Chapter 27 should not have the support of any company involved in music.

About the Films:

"Black Snake Moan," a Paramount Vantage film, stars Samuel L. Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Ricci. Set in a small Tennessee town, "Black Snake Moan" tells the story of two unlikely souls who are about to be drawn together at the sticky crossroads between rage and love. It will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24.

"Chapter 27" is set in New York City, December 1980 and tells the story of a young man, Mark David Chapman (Jared Leto), who arrives in New York with the intent to kill John Lennon. A depressed and unstable soul, Chapman is torn between his love and awe for John Lennon's persona and his desire to kill Lennon in order to gain notoriety for himself. Scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25, "Chapter 27" also stars Lindsay Lohan as Judy, a fan of John Lennon who makes friends with Chapman.

A fantastic essay written by Frank (one of the big boycottchapter27.org supporters)

Are We A Nation Obsessed With Murderers Of All Kinds?
Current mood: Hopeful,Confident & Optimistic
Category: Hopeful,Confident & Optimistic Movies, TV, Celebrities

With the movie Chapter 27 now premiering at Sundance,I have been seeing that we in the USA are actually obsessed with murderers. In the past 50 years,we are seeing in more ways than one, that there are quite a few movies about murderers being made and released into theatres and even on TV of all kinds be it network or cable. It seems that Hollywood and independent film companies are making these movies to whet the appetite of the people in this country. With Jarrett Schaeffer making Chapter 27,he is simply trying to make money off of this obsession and try to become rich of the misery of fans, admirers and loved ones of one of the greatest men who ever lived,John Lennon.

Case in point;Has anyone here ever seen the movie by Oliver Stone entitled Natural Born Killers? Is anyone here even aware of it?It doesn't matter which version,be it the R rated version or the Unrated version. If anyone here has, then you know what I am saying here.

Oliver Stone made this movie with a message. The message is that the people, mostly the media and certain cult like individuals, are indeed obsessed with murderers.Stone made his point really clear when he took the daring move to make this movie and bring this age old truth to our eyes and ears.In that movie,Mick and Mallory Knox were notorious serial murderers who went on seemingly unending killing spree and were glamorized in the media and by people. One person actually held up a sign honoring them saying "Murder Me,Mickey!!" The media even asked Mickey "What Do You Have To Say To Your Fans?" Mickey answered "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet!" and they achieve what they are hoping for. They have fame and celebrity styled notoriety. All the while, nobody and I mean NOBODY even considers the families who lost their loved ones all because of Mickey And Mallory Knox killing them. One of the taglines for this film was: "In The Media Circus of Life,They Were The Main Attraction!" On the poster itself it said as follows: "Director Oliver Stone Brings You A Bold New Look At A Country Seduced By Fame,Obsessed With Crime and Consumed By The Media!"

That poster was right on the money.Stone only made this movie as a statement about the USA's obsession with people who really do not deserve to be in the limelight.Killers truly do not deserve any fame or celebrity styled notoriety.Though the film's story is fictional,Stone claimed that the film was "Inspired By Actual Events" from the past and the present.Stone made this film as a way of pointing out the shortcomings of this country and the people who make stars out of monsters such as the characters in that film and that this country has always had an obsession with these types that is as old as time itself.Plus,a certain amount of folklore is always made around these types. It seems that North American's have a murder fetish that has now gone overboard with no end in sight.Yes the movie was controversial.Yes the movie was overly graphically violent.Yes the movie was shocking. But the shocking thing is that murderers are always getting everything that they do not deserve and are also smiling all the way to the bank(so to speak).Examples are Charles Manson,Ted Bundy,Richard Ramirez, John E.List,Dennis Rader(BTK),Joe Hunt and Jeffrey Dahmer. Many movies and documentaries have been made about them and they are well known on the internet with many articles about them.

This hopefully proves my point.

Jarrett Schaeffer is only making Chapter 27 as a gamble. He's gambling with the notion of the USA's obsession with murderers and is actually hoping to make a lot of money off of this venture regarding this obsession. Not only that, there is also a musical play called Asassins and many well known murderers are showcased in this, including the man who murdered John Lennon who shall remain nameless. The worst thing about Chapter 27 is that Mr Schaeffer claims to be a fan of both The Beatles and John Lennon.I feel that if he truly were a fan of them,he would not have made this worthless excuse of a film to give THAT MAN notoriety that he truly does not deserve.Besides, who really wants to know what was going on in Lennon's murderers mind anyway?Who the heck really cares?Certainly not me,that's who.

The only thing that we can hope is that this move by Mr.Schaeffer BOMBS and that he rolls snake eyes with his gamble and not make anything off of this disgusting commercial venture.

Again,I hope that this proves my point.

Frank...Thanks again...nice work....PEACE

VH1 on Chapter 27...not worth seeing!!!

This is a blurb on Chapter 27 from VH1's website, its unfortunate that VH1 and Viacom are paying any attention at all to this piece of crap, but it beats giving Peace Arch a distribution deal for Chapter 27. After all if they were interested they would have signed and been talking it up by now. We also included a financial article about PAE below. Pay careful attention to the FINE PRINT. Its at the end and tells all about how Peace Arch Entertainment PAID an analyst $1500 to give them some good press after a disappointing earnings release. OH....and one late addition, guess Lindsey won't be out promoting this piece of crap, read the third update on poor Lindsey....ITS ALL ABOUT KARMA!!!!!

"Chapter 27"
Lindsay Lohan might not remember any of the assassination tragedies that irreparably altered American existence over the past few decades, but it might soon be hard to remember them without thinking of her. Following on the heels of Lohan's most adult role yet in "Bobby," Lindsay takes a shot at another high-profile murder with "Chapter 27," dramatizing the days before DOUCHE shot John Lennon (see "Lindsay Lohan, Jared Leto Teaming Up For John Lennon Film"). Co-starring 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto as the Salinger-obsessed assassin, the controversial film can already list Yoko Ono among those wishing that "Chapter" would just respect Lennon enough to leave the book closed.

Why we're intrigued: Whether you agree with Lennon's widow or not, December 8, 1980, was a turning point in American history. It's only human nature to want to remember the tragedy and search for a reason why.

Why we're afraid: Examine that day all you want, you're unlikely to ever find a satisfying explanation for how the world's most peaceful soul could die so violently. Good luck to Lohan and Leto.

SmallCap Sentinel: Validation Via Revenue
Wednesday January 17, 9:35 am ET

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 17, 2007 -- ``In many instances, when an investor is considering whether to buy, sell, or hold a smallcap company, there is really only one way to get an indication of the company's viability in the marketplace. That's revenues,'' said SmallCap Sentinel analyst D.R. Clark. ``And while it's not the only yardstick in determining if a company is the next big winner, it may well be the best early way of validating the company's business plan.''
``This is even more dramatic, pardon the pun, for creative based companies,'' said Clark. ``Most investors lack the personal acumen to evaluate an entertainment company's broad appeal or profitability. A more 'macro' view suggests that reports of profitability imply broader acceptance and implied endorsement of the company's creative efforts.''

``Along these lines, Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. (AMEX:PAE - News) has just announced operating results for its first quarter of fiscal 2007, ending November 30, 2006, that reported revenues of $11.3 million versus $0.9 million for the same period last year, an 1146 percent increase in revenues,'' Clark stated. ``For many investors, this will serve as the validation they've been waiting for.''

Report: Actress Lindsay Lohan checks into rehab (gotta love it..the chapter 27 curse continues)

HOLLYWOOD - Actress Lindsay Lohan, whose hard-partying ways have become a mainstay of the supermarket tabloids, has reportedly checked herself into rehab.

According to Internet and wire reports, the actress issued a statement through her representative, Leslie Sloane Zelnik: "I have made a proactive decision to take care of my personal health. I appreciate your well wishes and ask that you please respect my privacy at this time." Additional details were not immediately unavailable.

Lohan, 20, has been the subject of much open speculation about whether her drinking and partying had crossed a line. Fueling such speculation has been repeated hospital visits, even though representatives insisted they were nothing serious, and severe weight fluctuations.

Most recently, she checked into a hospital and told the media it was because she needed to have her appendix removed.

Late last year, Lohan's mother, Dina, told the media that her daughter had been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. While some of Lohan's bar-hopping had been chalked up to life as a rich-and-famous teenager, concern about Lohan ratcheted up last summer when a producer on the set of one of Lohan's new movies, "Georgia Rule," criticized her for partying herself sick and then hiding behind reports of illnesses and exhaustion. This is great...can't make this stuff up

In a letter, Morgan Creek chief James G. Robinson threatened to hold her financially responsible for absences and late arrivals that he said had cost the production hundreds of thousands of dollars in delays. The letter seemed to have done its job. Shortly thereafter, Lohan was reportedly on time and in great form. Enjoy this no show at sundance stock holders and investors in PAE....whhaaaaaaaaa

Lohan starred in 1998's "The Parent Trap," and it soon became apparent that she was here to stay. "Freaky Friday" (2003) and "Mean Girls" (2004) helped make her an even bigger star among tweens and young women. Recent movies, however, have not been as successful, such as 2006's "Just My Luck." According to IMDB.com, she has no fewer than seven movies in the pipeline, including this year's "Georgia Rule." It's unclear how her rehab stint may affect production.

More About Jarrett Shaeffer. The Man Responsible for Chapter 27 & Where He Came From & It's Importance In Beatles History.

Fellow People

I learned something about Jarrett Shaeffer that really surprised me. I figured that I would share it with all of you.

Jarrett Shaeffer is from Landstuhl,Germany. He graduated from the film writing program at USC is 2001.

I only bring this up because I am part German in my own right. My mother hails from the city of Berlin. She emigrated to the USA after she married my father in 1956.

I am also a tad bit ashamed that this guy came from that country. I am part German myself and this guy hails from that country.

Germany also holds some importance for The Beatles. It was in the racy city of Hamburg in the early 1960's where the Fab Four learned how to be REAL professionals and it is also where they did their first professional recordings. They backed up Tony Sheridan in a German recording studio and those sessions produced the legendary My Bonnie record and the later Top 20 hit Ain't She Sweet, which John sang lead on. The Beatles performed at the German night club called Kaiserkeller, which was near the Reeperbahn district before moving on to a club called The Top 10,which was where they met Sheridan and the rest was history. The Fab Four would also perform at another place called The Star Club where they made their first live recordings and where future permanent drummer Ringo Starr(real name Richard Starkey) would sit in for Pete Best when those recordings were made. They would later be released on record many times on many different reissue labels starting in 1977 when Lingasong Records first released them.

The early years of the Fabs are further illustrated in the movie Backbeat that starred Ian Hart giving the performance of his career as John Lennon and Stephen Dorff as Stuart Sutcliffe. The movie is about those years when they did get their first professional experiences in Hamburg even though it does focus mainly on the friendship between John & Stu. It is still a very good movie and one I whole heartedly recommend for any Beatles or Lennon fans out there. It will be one of those films that I will watch during the week of the Sundance Film Festival alongside other Beatles films that I have to honor John Lennon.

Again, The man who is making this film hails from that country and it's hard to believe that the fans in Germany are not crying FOUL at this. I am crying FOUL at the moment because I am not only part German but I am a Beatles and Lennon fan and that country was what helped them in their quest for stardom.

Just some random words here regarding what I learned and it's importance.Take Care and I hope that all of you have a wonderful evening.

UPDATE: Variety 1/17/07 .. additional facts about the "person" with the most to gain from the murder of JOHN LENNON. Writer and Director of Chapter 27.

Taking on the true story of a hero to millions is pressure enough for a first-time director. Getting inside the head of the man who killed him is a whole other story. But that's the challenge Jarrett Schafer took on with his first feature, "Chapter 27," a story of the days leading up to the 1980 assassination of John Lennon, told from the perspective of his killer, Mark David Chapman.
Born on an Air Force base in Germany but raised in the U.S., Schaefer studied filmic writing at USC. After graduating, he worked as an editor at Fade In magazine and as a videostore clerk while writing scripts and poetry in his spare time.

Like Chapman, Schaefer is an ardent fan of both the Beatles and J.D. Salinger's novel "The Catcher in the Rye," and says he began the script to try to understand "how someone could be inspired to kill anyone as a result of being exposed to this kind of beautiful art. It really bothered me, because Lennon and Salinger have always made me feel so much better, and so much less alone."

The script took Schaefer four years to write, but once it was finished, the film came together quickly. With the help of producers Alexandra Milchan and Bob Salerno, Schaefer cast Jared Leto as Chapman and Lindsay Lohan as Jude, a fellow Lennon fanatic who befriends Chapman.

Says Salerno, "Writing the script and researching the events extensively gave Jarrett a deeper understanding of the material, and a comfort as a first time director to take more risks in the way he wanted to shoot this story."

Pic was shot on location in New York last year. "I don't have much to compare it to, but the challenges were daunting," says Schaefer, who directed several sequences outside the Dakota, the site of Lennon's assassination. "I had to go into a place that was very sensitive to our story, with trucks, a crew, and a limited amount of time. It wasn't easy."

"It was important to Jarrett that we didn't glorify this event," says Salerno. "He didn't want to shoot any of the scenes with John Lennon at the Dakota out of respect for the residents that were there at the time John was killed, so all of that footage was shot separately at another location that we were able keep closed and controlled."

Schaefer is currently developing several new feature ideas. His USC thesis script, "The Hidden Alice," will be directed by helmer Bronwen Hughes ("Stander").

"Jarrett is someone that I am sure will be most content to take on difficult subject matter in the future and find his own original way in," adds Salerno.

Peace Arch Entertainment message board (PAE)-Chapter 27

An open letter to the board of Peace Arch Entertainment:

Boycott Chapter 27
My original goal for this letter was to scrutinize Peace Arch Entertainment's remarks point by point. Unfortunately, Peace Arch Entertainment's focus wanders so wildly that it never actually finishes any of its points. I think you will notice this in the ensuing discussion. Let us note first of all that many people think of Peace Arch Entertainment's antihumanist, pea-brained plaints as a joke, as something only half-serious. In fact, they're deadly serious. They're the tool by which self-indulgent carousers will make our lives miserable in a lustrum or two. A second all-too-serious item is that Peace Arch Entertainment says that it can override nature. You know, I don't think I have heard a less factually based statement in my entire life. Still, we shouldn't jump to conclusions, even though it is a known fact that I have one itsy-bitsy problem with Peace Arch Entertainment's epigrams. Videlicet, they burn our fair cities to the ground. And that's saying nothing about how if it believes that obscurity, evasiveness, incomprehensibility, indirectness, and ambiguity are marks of depth and brilliance, then it's obvious why it thinks that individual worth is defined by race, ethnicity, religion, or national origin.

I won't mince my words: In order to convince us that anyone who dares to point out that the emperor has no clothes on can expect to suffer hair loss and tooth decay as a result, Peace Arch Entertainment often turns to the old propagandist trick of comparing results brought about by entirely dissimilar causes. How dare Peace Arch Entertainment criticize my values when its are so obviously hopeless?

I happen to believe that Peace Arch Entertainment's objectives are evil. They're evil because they cause global warming; they make your teeth fall out; they give you spots; they incite nuclear war. And, as if that weren't enough, Peace Arch Entertainment's reason is not true reason. It does not seek the truth, but only headlong answers, vainglorious resolutions to conflicts. If Peace Arch Entertainment would abandon its name-calling and false dichotomies it would be much easier for me to address the real issues faced by mankind. Peace Arch Entertainment's sophistries were never about tolerance and equality. That was just window dressing for the "innocents". Rather, the time is always right to do what is right. That's why we must surely advocate social change through dialogue, passive resistance, and nonviolence. The first step in that process is to realize that it wants nothing less than to defy the law of the land, hence its repeated, almost hypnotic, insistence on the importance of its dastardly, neurotic declamations.

Our national media is controlled by wretched cutthroats. That's why you probably haven't heard that Peace Arch Entertainment's editorials represent the most sleazy form of moral turpitude conceivable. Get that straight, please. Any other thinking is blame-shoving or responsibility-dodging. Furthermore, my general thesis is that purists may object to my failure to present specific examples of Peace Arch Entertainment's coldhearted ventures. Fortunately, I do have an explanation for this omission. The explanation demands an understanding of how Peace Arch Entertainment's a pretty good liar most of the time. However, it tells so many lies, it's bound to trip itself up someday. I'll talk a lot more about that later, but first let me finish my general thesis: If I wanted to brainwash and manipulate a large segment of the population, I would convince them that Peace Arch Entertainment's vices are the only true virtues. In fact, that's exactly what Peace Arch Entertainment does as part of its quest to pilfer the national treasure. We've all heard Peace Arch Entertainment yammer and whine about how it's being scapegoated again, the poor dear. Make no mistake about it, if you think that Peace Arch Entertainment has a duty to conceal the facts and lie to the rest of us, under oath if necessary, perjuring itself to help disseminate the True Faith of opportunism, then you're suffering from very serious nearsightedness. You're focusing too much on what Peace Arch Entertainment wants you to see and failing to observe many other things of much greater importance, such as that it contends that its campaigns are all sweetness and light. Excuse me, but where exactly did this little factoid come from? Fogyism doesn't work. So why does Peace Arch Entertainment cling to it? There aren't enough hours in the day to fully answer that question, but consider this: If Peace Arch Entertainment can give us all a succinct and infallible argument proving that the rest of us are an inferior group of people, fit only to be enslaved, beaten, and butchered at the whim of our betters, I will personally deliver its Nobel Prize for Illiberal Rhetoric. In the meantime, we are observing the change in our society's philosophy and values from freedom and justice to corruption, decay, cynicism, and injustice. All of these "values" are artistically incorporated in one person: Peace Arch Entertainment. In any case, there is something in the way of "natural law" that can be stated awkwardly as follows: "There is no reason to toy with our opinions and there is every reason not to." Please do not quote me on that. Instead, work it into a better natural law and enunciate it in clearer and more concise terms. It is immaterial who is credited with the words; the objective is to empower the oppressed to control their own lives.

You don't know how tempted I am to sue the stuffing out of Peace Arch Entertainment. For proof of this fact, I must point out that Peace Arch Entertainment's memoirs are uniformly riddled by an unbelievable degree of ignorance. But that's not all: Its disciples' thinking is fenced in by many constraints. Their minds are not free because they dare not be. Peace Arch Entertainment is known for walking into crowded rooms and telling everyone there that we should avoid personal responsibility. Try, if you can, to concoct a statement better calculated to show how mean-spirited Peace Arch Entertainment is. You can't do it. Not only that, but once one begins thinking about free speech, about shameless lumpenproletariats who use ostracism and public opinion to prevent the airing of views contrary to their own craven beliefs, one realizes that it does not tolerate any view that differs from its own. Rather, Peace Arch Entertainment discredits and discards those people who contradict it along with the ideas that they represent.

In the course of my work, I regularly come in contact with what I call incomprehensible warmongers, and most of them also feel that it's undoubtedly a tragedy that Peace Arch Entertainment's goal in life is apparently to diminish society's inducements to good behavior. Here, I use the word "tragedy" as the philosopher Whitehead used it. Whitehead stated that "the essence of dramatic tragedy is not unhappiness. It resides in the solemnity of the remorseless working of things," which I interpret as saying that we need to look beyond the most immediate and visible problems with Peace Arch Entertainment. We need to look at what is behind these problems and understand that Peace Arch Entertainment is extremely obscene. In fact, let's see what my handy-dandy Obscene-O-Meter has to say about it. Whoa! The needle is off the scale! It's a good thing I checked, because if the past is any indication of the future, Peace Arch Entertainment will once again attempt to turn me, a typically mild-mannered person, into a wanton vat of credentialism. Peace Arch Entertainment has convinced a lot of people that our elected officials should be available for purchase by special-interest groups. One must pause in admiration at this triumph of media manipulation. In order to solve the big problems with Peace Arch Entertainment, we must first understand these problems, and to understand them, we must examine the warp and woof of its pleas. I sometimes feel like Peace Arch Entertainment has forced us into a danse macabre with its noxious inveracities leading us to the grave, period. I admit I have a tendency to become a bit insensitive whenever I rebuke Peace Arch Entertainment for trying to trivialize certain events that are particularly special to us all. While I am desirous of mending this tiny personality flaw, Peace Arch Entertainment's logodaedaly is frighteningly successful at convincing the most disgraceful scum you'll ever see that its opinions represent the opinions of the majority -- or even a plurality. In fact, I have said that to Peace Arch Entertainment on many occasions and I will keep on saying it until it stops trying to interfere with the most important principles of democracy. Now, I'm no fan of Peace Arch Entertainment's, but still, Peace Arch Entertainment craves more power. I say we should give it more power -- preferably, 10,000 volts of it.

I believe I have finally figured out what makes organizations like Peace Arch Entertainment replace Robert's Rules of Order with "facilitated consensus building" at all important meetings. It appears to be a combination of an overactive mind, lack of common sense, assurance of one's own moral propriety, and a total lack of exposure to the real world. To be quite frank, at no time in the past did the most mudslinging rapscallions you'll ever see shamble through the streets of cities, demanding rights they imagine some supernatural power has bestowed upon them. From what I know of Peace Arch Entertainment's precepts, it is saying essentially three things:

  1. Its fairy tales epitomize wholesome family entertainment.
  2. Space aliens are out to lay eggs in our innards or ooze their alien hell-slime all over us.
  3. Everyone with a different set of beliefs from its is going to get a one-way ticket to Hell.

Obviously, all three of these are indeed closed-minded.

The long and short of it is that Peace Arch Entertainment will stop at nothing to devise stupid scams to get money for nothing. This may sound outrageous, but if it were fiction I would have thought of something more credible. As it stands, what we have been imparting to Peace Arch Entertainment -- or what it has been eliciting from us -- is a half-submerged, barely intended logic, contaminated by wishes and tendencies we prefer not to acknowledge. It is disgraceful that, with a wink and a smile, Peace Arch Entertainment has signified its approval of featherbrained simpletons who create a kind of psychic pain at the very root of the modern mind. I could substantiate what I'm saying about the most overbearing fence-sitters you'll ever see, but I don't feel that that's necessary, since we all know what they're like. Peace Arch Entertainment's values are based on two fundamental errors. They assume that Peace Arch Entertainment has the mandate of Heaven to block streets and traffic to the extent that ambulances can't get through. And they promote the mistaken idea that its decisions are based on reason.

There is a vast empirical literature on this subject. Some people might object to that claim, and if they do, my response is: Peace Arch Entertainment is frightened that we might rage, rage against the dying of the light. That's why it's trying so hard to prevent whistleblowers from reporting that life is too short to have to put up with it. I trust that I have not shocked any of you by writing that. However, I do realize that some of my readers may feel that much of what I have penned about Peace Arch Entertainment in this letter is heartless and in violation of our Christian duty to love everyone. If so, I can say only that every time Peace Arch Entertainment tries, it gets increasingly successful in its attempts to evade responsibility. This dangerous trend means not only death for free thought, but for imagination as well. I may be beating a dead horse here, but I do want to point out that Peace Arch Entertainment uses big words like "anthropocentrical" to make itself sound important. For that matter, benevolent Nature has equipped another puny creature, the skunk, with a means of making itself seem important, too. Although Peace Arch Entertainment's slurs may reek like a skunk, Peace Arch Entertainment's faithfuls often reverse the normal process of interpretation. That is, they value the unsaid over the said, the obscure over the clear.

Nobody wants Peace Arch Entertainment to promote evil ideologies such as metagrobolism, but Peace Arch Entertainment insists on doing it anyway. To some extent, if I recall correctly, Peace Arch Entertainment runs at the first sign of trouble. No joke. I could be wrong about any or all of this, but at the moment, the above fits what I know of history, people, and current conditions. If anyone sees anything wrong or has some new facts or theories on this, I'd love to hear about them.

Why are people so defensive of a company looking to cash in on a sad event in our history? With all of the opportunities to profit from over 5,000 publicly traded companies, why choose to make a buck on projects like this.
How can this be defended, I'm not saying there aren't worse events in history, but cashing in...seems kind of crappy.

I vote...

---------------------------------------------

I appreciate your rational tone. I would guess that all, or virtually all, of the people on the board invested in PAE as a company because it has many, many irons in the fire. Ch. 27 just happens to be one of them. The Boycott folks, like many people with an issue about which they're passionate, don't see anything but that issue. However, in reality Ch 27 is just a small piece of PAE.

Certainly, an owner of PAE could find Ch 27 sufficiently objectionable that he decides to divest. My own view is that nothing is beyond the pale for consideration in a book or movie, and that if you're going to use the profit motive as an argument against books and movies no book should ever be written and no film ever made.

I think CH 27 could be a good movie, it could be a bad movie. It could be a tasteless movie that should never have been made. But we won't know that until we see it. If it's a bad movie, failure will be punishment enough for all those involved in it, including the investors.

You Boycott folks should not act as though you've got a monopoly on morality, taste, or respect for John Lennon. The movie will come out and we'll ALL have a say about whether it's good or bad, vilely opportunistic or thoughtful and enligtening. Hey, let's not burn the books --
especially those that we haven't read.

-------------------------------------------
But by using that argument, all production companies are guilty - Paramount, Dreamworks, Sony, New Line Cinema among all others. Movies about WWI and WWI; movies about Vietnam; movies like Schindler's List and Black Hawk Down; there are so many - these are all movies made about sad times and about other people's miseries. They were also all made to generate revenues and profits. Whether it is right to do so or not, is a moral debate, and not a debate on whether Peace Arch, as a whole, is crappy or not - at least in my opinion.....

----------------------------------------------

n none of these situations was the sole purpose of death or destruction done for the sole purpose of gaining fame. I (begrudgingly) understand political, religious, or cultural differences that lead to wars or violence. Although its horrible in all situations, sometimes in reality, i suppose its unavoidable.
But the idea of making this film and rewarding the killer...I just find it totally offensive. Believe me, I'm not with the morality police, i'm all about freedom of speech and artistic expression. I don't even have a problem with the film being made, its the idea of profiting from the film that bothers me.
Had it been done as part of a research project for student on the mentally ill, with proceeds going to charity, it would still suck, but I could live with it.

But there must be a better way to make a buck, hell the writer could have lit himself on fire for reality TV and gotten wealthy (if he survived).
