OFF Topic of Chapter 27, but WOW, great journalism

This is possibly the most incredible article I have ever read. I always wondered how the world formed opinions about America, this really puts it in to perspective for me.

America, Israel, India Caused Tsunami, Conspiracy Theory Says
By Julie Stahl
CNSNews.com Jerusalem Bureau Chief
January 07, 2007

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - The earthquake that caused tidal waves to slam into the coast of Southeast Asia, killing at least 145,000 people, could have been the result of joint American, Israeli and Indian underwater weapons testing, an Egyptian weekly and other Arab media charged.

The earthquake struck along a known fault line deep beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean on December 26, generating 30-foot swells of water that engulfed resort areas and entire villages along the coasts of Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and India.

But in the Middle East, where some prominent figures still accuse the Israeli secret service of perpetrating the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the U.S., conspiracy theories about the tsunami disaster are taking root.

The Egyptian nationalist weekly Al-Usbu' accused the U.S., Israel and India of carrying out nuclear testing that may have cased the tsunami. Those nations were testing "how to liquidate humanity," the newspaper said.

"Was [the earthquake] caused by American, Israeli, and Indian nuclear testing on 'the day of horror?' Why did the 'Ring of Fire' explode?" Mahmoud Bakri asked in his "investigative" piece published in the weekly on January 1.

"According to researchers' estimates, there are two possible [explanations] for what happened. The first is a natural, divine move, because the region is in the 'Ring of Fire,' a region subject to this destructive type of earthquakes," Bakri wrote according to a translation of the article provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute on Friday.

"The second possibility is that it was some kind of human intervention that destabilized the tectonic plates, an intervention that is caused only in nuclear experiments and explosions," he said.

The India Daily voiced similar sentiments in its December 29 posting but blamed the earthquake on the testing of an eco-weapon by its own government. www.RUPEE.US

Al-Jazeera.com reports that many point the "finger of blame," not at Mother nature, but at "government cover-ups, top secret military testing in the waters of the Indian Ocean and even aliens attempting to correct Earth's 'wobbly' rotation."

But the most popular theory, it says, is that the Indian and U.S. military are the "main cause of the disaster by testing eco-weapons, which use electromagnetic waves, thus triggering off earthquakes."

Dr. Harvey Blatt, a geologist and professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, said such theories are "ridiculous."

"Anything that goes bad is blamed on the U.S. and Israel...Humans had nothing to do with this. All they can do is try to get out of the way," Blatt told CNSNews.com.

"Earthquakes happen all the time but they don't happen that often in the Indian Ocean," he said. The people were living in mud huts and there was no warning system and so they got swamped, he added.

No accolades for America

More than $4 billion in aid -- much of it from Western nations -- has been pledged for emergency assistance and to help rebuild the ravaged regions

The U.S. relief effort reportedly has been well received on the ground. But Arab media have not had much to say about the enormous sums of money the West has pledged to the region, which includes Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country in the world.

The Arab media has largely ignored Western contributions, instead concentrating on their own relief efforts, said Yotam Seldner of the Middle East Media Research Institute.

Oil-rich Saudi Arabia, which initially pledged just $10 million in disaster aid, tripled its pledge and then held a telethon on Thursday. Other local Arab television stations also launched fundraisers.

Other Gulf States have made sizeable contributions: the United Arab Emirates pledged $20 million, Kuwait $10 million and Qatar $25 million in aid.

In last Friday's sermon on Palestinian Authority television, Sheikh Ibrahim Mudeiris said that all those who died by drowning were martyrs. Nevertheless, he accused America and the Jews for bringing corruption to the area, which caused the judgment Allah to descend.

"The oppression and corruption caused by America and the Jews have increased," Mudeiris said, according to a translation provided by MEMRI.

"We...knew [Bangkok] as the center of corruption on the face of this earth. Over there, there are Zionist and American investments. Over there they bring Muslims and others to prostitution. Over there, there are beaches, which they dubbed 'tourists' paradise,' while only a few meters away, the locals live in hell on earth. They cannot make ends meet, while a few meters away there is a paradise, 'tourists' paradise,'" he charged.

"Whoever reads the Koran, given by the Maker of the World, can see how these nations were destroyed. There is one reason: they lied; they sinned; and [they] were infidels. Whoever studies the Koran can see this is the result," Ibrahim Al-Bashar, advisor to Saudi Arabia's Justice Minister argued on Saudi/UAE Al-Majd television.

"These great tragedies and collective punishments that are wiping out villages, towns, cities, and even entire countries, are Allah's punishments of the people of these countries, even if they are Muslims," said Saudi Professor Sheikh Fawzan Al-Fawzana on Al-Majd television.

He called it unfortunate that corrupt resorts exist in Islamic and other countries in South Asia.

"The fact that it happened at this particular time is a sign from Allah. It happened at Christmas, when fornicators and corrupt people from all over the world come to commit fornication and sexual perversion," he said, adding that all that is left is to ask for forgiveness.

But Saudi Cleric Muhammad Al-Majid said during the Saudi fundraiser that this was his country's opportunity to export Islam.

"Some elements hostile to our country try to portray it as a country that exports terrorism, bombings, accusations of heresy, and hatred of the 'other,'" Al-Majid said. "But, through this campaign...we are showing the whole world that our country exports global empathy, love, harmony, peace, and Islam."

According to the State Department, Saudi Arabia has one of the worst human rights records in the region.

OHHHH....and by the way...READ THIS YOU LOHAN / LETO FANS!!!

Jared Leto was so ashamed of dating Lindsay Lohan he avoided being photographed with her.
The 'Mean Girls' star says her relationship didn't work out with the 'Fight Club' actor because he didn't like the crowds of paparazzi who follow her everywhere.
Lindsay said: "Jared was so paranoid. He'd always be like, 'Don't come over if you're going to bring 15 paparazzi!' "
The 20-year-old actress - who recently confessed she likes to date more than one man at a time - said Jared was one of her few proper boyfriends.
She said: "I don't think I've had enough experience with dating one guy for a long time. The only one was Jared, and Wilmer Valderrama."
Lindsay was not Jared's first celebrity love interest. He has also dated Cameron Diaz, Scarlett Johansson and Ashley Olsen.

An exchange between 2 individuals around Chapter 27

If I'm not thinking about politics and policy, I'm often thinking about movies. So what would interest me more than seeing that there was a call to boycott the movie Chapter 27 Starring Jared "next Johnny Depp" Leto and Lindsay "next Tara Reid" Lohan. Now here's an issue we can really sink our collective teeth into!

The movie is an independent production about Mark David Chapman. He's the maladjusted horrible little man that took John Lennon away from us in 1980. Some argue that the movie should be boycotted because this gives Chapman, who has been in special custody since 1980, the fame he craved.

What's most ironic is that one of the people leading the boycott is Don Murphy. He's the producer of Natural Born Killers. You may remember Natural Born Killers from back when people were busy organising boycotts about it. Anyway, I was on Don Murphy's message board recently - I go there now and then because Murphy is a foul mouther temper tantruming bully - you know, the kind of guy that is ALWAYS fun to read - who is busy turning the new transfomers movie into a new episode of Herbie the Love Bug alongside Director, Michael Bay.

Now Cicero may have a libertarian streak or something but if you want to boycott art you had better have a VERY good reason. I don't think this qualifies.

Anyway, if you go here you can see me fight with him on his message board. Its an entertaining fight. I make points. He calls me "dickbunny", bans me from posting and changes my login name to "cuminginpants". And, oh yeah, tried to release my email address so people could spam bomb me. edit: Then apparently thinks better of that idea in a re-edited post above.

Clearly Cicero is a dickbunny and Don Murphy is the man, but what do I know

You know your offensive when......

Sundance '07: Let the backlash begin

When you can offend the guy who produced "Natural Born Killers," you should get some kind of prize.

But that's what the fine folks behind the 2007 Sundance Film Festival have done, by picking as one of its premiere films "Chapter 27," in which Jared Leto plays Mark David Chapman, the man who killed John Lennon.

Don Murphy - a respected Hollywood producers whose credits include "Natural Born Killers," "Bully," "From Hell" and "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" - posted this message on his web site, donmurphy.net, declaring he would boycott the festival because of "Chapter 27."

I would agree that a movie about John Lennon's killer is not the most promising of subject matter. But I'll reserve judgment on the film until I see it. As Roger Ebert has often said, you don't judge a movie on what it's about, but how it handles what it's about.

I do not worry that "Chapter 27" will do any harm to Lennon's memory. I wish I could be so confident that Leto's co-star, Lindsay Lohan, won't do damage to Park City's liquor supply.

This is only the begining....This article was in a Salt Lake City paper
Looking forward to www.rupee.us

Chapter 27
Long Synopsis

It is a date with destiny that will forever be etched on the tragic history of music. On December 8, 1980, loner Mark Chapman shot John Lennon five times outside The Dakota, the New York apartment Lennon shared with wife Yoko Ono and son Sean.
Why did he do it? What compelled this apparently normal married man to assassinate a music legend and icon of the sixties peace and love movement?
In the weekend leading up to the inevitable tragedy, Chapman’s deteriorating mental state succumbs to exaggerated fantasies about his own mundane life and his increasingly strange behaviour alienates fans assembled outside The Dakota.
But it is his attachment to the classic novel “The Catcher in the Rye” that finally causes him to lose his grip on reality and carry out the infamous murder that continues to shock the world.

Short Synopsis

New York City. December 1980. Mark Chapman arrives in New York with the intent to kill John Lennon. A depressed and unstable soul, Chapman is torn between his love and awe for John Lennon’s persona and his desire to kill Lennon in order to gain notoriety for himself. The story portrays Chapman’s mental collapse, which is played out through his obsession with JD Salinger’s classic novel ‘The Catcher in the Rye’, as Chapman’s demons win over, and persuade him to shoot Lennon on the steps of Lennon’s apartment building, The Dakota.

Director’s Note

The music of John Lennon and the writing of J.D. Salinger have always had
a powerful effect on me. They both relate complexities like the pain of love or the confusion of growing up with such openness and accuracy that I  recognize it in myself and feel less alone. They were, and still are, close friends and guides. I imagine I am not the only one. I could never understand how someone who listened to these same songs and read these same books would also want to kill. This film is about that person.

Help us to stop Peace Arch Entertainment. Remember buy one share of PAE and join us at the shareholders meeting in 2007. STOP the CHAPTER 27 movie !!!

A while back I was someone who thought fame was what I wanted. In certain ways and earning it the right way. If there was anyone I wish I could be like or have their essence, not a doubt in my mind, it would be John. I feel miserable when I listen to some of his songs now. It really didn't dawn on me how beautiful this man was. One day I saw a documentary on his life called Imagine. And then I really got hooked on this man. His music was flawless. Then I started to listen to Beatle music non-stop. I bought the Imagine Dvd and watched it everyday. I can't watch it anymore. It hurts alot. As magnificent a life this man lived. All that replays in my head over and over is that he was killed by a spineless coward. Who is alive and well. Oh I'm sorry he's in prison. In maximum security living the life of a peaceful librarian. He's a "born again christian" who thinks John Lennon would say that this yellow piece of scum should be released and free. I don't think so. I'm so furious that no one gave this guy the chair. He's living proof of injustice. And no one will ever harm him ever. He's protected for the rest of his life. These idiotic guards who are doing their "job" won't so much as let this sorry S.O.B. catch a flu. I read in this article just how bad our innocent murderer has it. He had an interview with Larry King a while back stating how bad his "justified" prison sentence was going. Usually you'd expect someone who goes to prison to get what's coming to them by another prisoner right? Not this guy..oh no we can't have that. Then all these idiotic guards wouldn't be doing their job of keeping "justice" in order. These are some quotes of just how bad our murderer has it.Don't worry I'm not gonna say his name but let' s just call him "coward". I'm not making any of this up, these are real quotes by the coward and larry king .

KING: Yes. How are you treated at that infamous place? Attica, while maybe it got its rap badly when they had the riots, but Attica is known as one of the tough-duty prisons.

Coward: It's a maximum-security prison. It's not the same prison as it was those years ago. I'm treated humanely. I'm eating well, as you can see. I am treated -- once the officers get to know me, they see I'm just like everybody else, if that can be imagined, and I'm treated decently. I don't have any problem here in that area. I'm not beaten or tortured.

KING: Are you in a cell alone?

Coward: Every prisoner in Attica has his own cell. That's one of the good things about Attica.

KING: What kind of room are you in now?

Coward: I'm in a probably a 6 by 8 cell. I'm -- by the way, I have a job. I'm let out every morning at 6:30, and I work throughout the day.

KING: Doing?

Coward: My job is called kitchen man. I help set up the meals for the inmates that are here in this particular building. And I do other things, too, but basically my job is in the kitchen?

KING:The treatment by the other prisoners -- good?

Coward: I'm upstairs with three other inmates, and they're carefully screened. And most of them are going home very soon....

KING: They're nice to you?

Coward: They're very nice to me.

KING: You haven't had any brawls or anything.

Coward: No.

KING: How about homosexualty attacks?

Coward: None, zero.

KING: None at all? None threatened?

Coward: It doesn't happen in this building.

KING: Because it's tightly secure?

Coward: Tightly secure.

Oh no, heaven forbid anything bad should happen to this man. And this fat walrus has been eating well. Just look at his mugshots. I must warn you he looks like a hideous sideshow circus feak. The elephant man was ten times better looking than this fat blob.I can't stand the fact that this scumbag is now getting what he wanted. I'd be willing to bet a million dollars that he will reap the benefits of the film. Perhaps he'll even get to see what is obviously his life's work first hand. A nice air conditioned room where they may even throw in some popcorn and a soft drink .You know what the hell, again christian" so that makes every thing ok. Jared Leto is an even bigger jerk for taking the role for this film. Which is why I think he's perfect for the part of a lame actor playing the role of a pathetic loser human being. That's a perfect casting in my book. It's so obvious why Leto took this role. He just did it to try and win an oscar. He's copying what Charlize Theron did in Monster. He gained some weight to try and be a "serious" actor. Same for Lohan. Lame actress as well. They don't care about the grief of Lennon's death. All they want is to get a stupid award of them benefiting on someone's grief. And they'll hold that award up and smile thinking they did something great. It's sickening to my stomach. They even re-did the whole shooting scene in the exact same spot. They don't care if Yoko is still living their. They're money hungry morons who could care less. And the idiot who funded this produced and directed this is as much to blame as anyone to. I pray for justice. Leto just wants to win the stupid oscar.I hope they boo him if he gets nominated till he goes deaf. Same for Lohan. What gets under my skin even more is that when films are usually finished... they have what is know as a wrapping party. So let me get this straight. They are going to celebrates film about a man who killed someone in cold blood. They are actually going to have their glasses of wine and toast to this film and to the death of John Lennon at their party. And this coward will have his long sought after fame and is alive and well in o harm what so ever in his "justified"prison sentence. While Julian and Sean Lennon are fatherless and Yoko Ono is without her husband. While 50,000 or more people were crying their hearts and souls out for a beautiful human being that sad day.
Somebody please answer this question:
"Where is the justice in all this?"

OK, this guy is kind of soft, but we like his point.

Jared Leto talking up Chapter 27....Dirtbag!!!

JARED LETO IS AN UNBELIEVABLY COCKY PRICK!!!!!
READ THE INTERVIEW WE AQUIRED BELOW, WHAT A JERK-OFF!!!

“There was a certain time of night they brought us this blood to drink and they encouraged us to drink it with this sort of root.”

Actor/musician Jared Leto recalls of his band 30 Seconds To Mars’ time in South Africa.
“Next thing you know, Matt (Wachter, bassist) has shed all his clothes and is dancing naked around the bonfire.” Leto looks over at Wachter, eating across from him. “It’s true,” Wachter confirms between bites.

Without touching the salad he ordered 20 minutes ago, Leto opens his mouth to launch into another anecdote when his phone rings. He looks at the caller ID,

“It’s my mom. I’ll call her back later,” he smiles sheepishly. “Where was I? Oh yeah. So in Thailand…” The phone rings again, but this time it’s his brother’s, drummer Shannon Leto. He takes the call and reports back.

“My grandma was listening to our song on the radio, how cool is that? The DJ was praising the band, talking about how great the video was and she called my mom who called me. They’re very supportive.”

Thailand will have to wait.

Dressed head to toe in black, 30 Seconds To Mars-comprised of Leto, Wachter, guitarist Tomo Milicevic and brother Shannon-are in Toronto to wrap up their first national headlining tour, dubbed Forever Night Never Day. Sitting at an elongated table in local diner the Shanghai Cowgirl, the band is trying to grab some early dinner between photo shoots.

Over the next hour Leto waxes candidly about all aspects of his life. His choice in films, the “emotional scar” his characters leave upon him, his fascination with the darker side of human existence, his role as John Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman, in upcoming film Chapter 27 and, of course, his band. Never wavering in vocal tone, his charisma is instantly infectious and warm. When he speaks, his eyes never leave yours. Whatever he says, even something as outrageous as naked hallucinogenic bonfire dances, it’s not hard to believe him.

If looking for a poster boy for the emo generation, you could do a lot worse then Jared Leto. Tortured, pretty, self-effacing and ultimately doomed, Leto’s characters often portray the darker side of the world’s seemingly pretty exterior. Since making his mark on teenage girls around the world in 1994 as the illiterate Jordan Catalanato on the short-lived TV series My So-Called Life, Leto has become a fixture as one of Hollywood hot young stars.

Over the years appearing in movies such as Fight Club, American Psycho and Girl, Interrupted lent Leto credibility as not just another pretty face, but it would be his starring role as drug addict Harry Goldfarb in Darren Aronofsky’s Oscar-nominated Requiem for a Dream that would land him the acting accolades and respect.

Yet, while People Magazine was naming him one of the “50 sexiest people in the world,” Leto and his brother Shannon were planning the concept behind their art rock band, 30 Seconds To Mars.

-------------------------------

The next day, 30 Seconds To Mars are doing what they do best: rocking out. Jared jumps up and down, letting out a fiery scream one second then teasing the audience the next. Wearing matching white jumpsuits embossed with the band’s signature emblems, the band plays on as the mass of girls that are lined against the guardrail scream and wave to them. Mostly underage, this is one of the few chances they’ll get to see their sex symbol in the flesh. Even in the licensed section, girls-or women rather-sing along to every lyric, screaming each time there is a break in the music. The boyfriends nod along.

As the night winds down and the band finishes its set, a line forms around the merch booth where the band is scheduled to have a signing session. Fans wait in their altered white American Apparel; lush homemade tributes coated in scribbled lyrics. An hour and a half later the band arrive back at the Soho Metropolitan Hotel.

“That was a great set,” a tanned, blonde-haired woman tells Milicevic. “Thanks,” he responds nonchalantly. “Who put on MTV?” He’s asks the room while searching for MuchMusic in an effort to catch some of former tour mates Billy Talent’s Intimate and Interactive.

------------------------------------

“We put out our first sampler in 1998 on an independent,” Shannon Leto explains in regards to the band’s origins. “We went and played shows and changed our name every night. We took a very art rock approach. The first band photos that were on our site were of strangers, not us. We had a very heady beginning”

When 30 Seconds To Mars released their eponymous debut in 2002 on Virgin/EMI, it would certainly be a “heady” affair. Featuring heavy space rock infused with big riffs and surrounding itself in a cloud of conceptual mysticism, 30STM would prove a good stepping stone for the band. It would also prove difficult to circumvent the media attention that came with their frontman’s movie star day job. The band decided the best plan of attack would be to go at it the ol’ fashion way: tour. Following their Latin mantra Provehito In Altum, they launched forth into the deep.

“This is an example of the most organic way to build a band and a foundation of a band,” Leto explains. “We played over 500 shows for the first album. These days, something that seems to be specific to the times is if you work your fucking ass off, you will be rewarded.”

Through this constant touring, the band managed to build a rabid, strongly dedicated fan base dubbed “Echelons” after the military phrase used to describe an attack formation.

“All the elements that we’ve incorporated, not just the music, but the artwork, there’s things for people to look for and that’s what I think created our hardcore fans. It gives them a world that’s separate from the world around them,” Leto explains.

Escapism would be a theme that the band would delve even deeper into on their second album. Recorded in South Africa, Thailand, Morocco and America, A Beautiful Lie is a stripped down emotional burner of a record. In sharp contrast to its predecessor, it sheds some of the conceptual grandiose themes of the first album, replacing them with much more personal lyrical and musical subject matter.

“We wanted it to be immediate,” Leto explains. “We definitely took an approach that there was something greater then everyday thoughts and ideas to explore. But sometimes the greatest ideas are the simplest ideas. This record is definitely a very personal and honest record. It’s an emotional hurricane. It’s a celebration of life.”

For all its newfound personal appeal, A Beautiful Lie still manages to encompass the band’s art rock beginnings, if perhaps in a more toned down way.

“When we made the first record, people asked us not to use the word ‘concept album’ because it was so unpopular at the time. If you look at the artwork for 30 Seconds To Mars, there’s continuity between one album to the next and certainly a thematic element for what’s going [on] with this record. It’s written from the perspective of someone who’s in the crossroads of life and has to face and confront enormous challenges to change and move forward as a human being.”

First single, “The Kill,” proved an immediate hit with both fans and media. Directed by Leto himself as a pastiche of Stanley Kubrick film The Shining, the video stays in the thematic context of personal escapism. It allowed the actor-cum-rock star to mix his two passions in a fusion of cinematic and musical homage to not only his band’s single but also the constant thread that runs through the characters he portrays on screen.

“There are definitely sides of violence; sides dealing with isolation and alienation-what it is to be human. There’s a certain synergistic element to the music and the films that I make because it is the battleground as artists that we’re playing in.”

Vampire-killing kits rest side-by-side with relics of medieval torture devices. On the wall, two-headed goats watch over the world’s largest collection of authentic shrunken heads. Downstairs, an Egyptian mummy lies peacefully. It’s the Gasoline Magazine photo shoot at the studio of Golden Chariot Products owner William Jamieson. The band poses for photos while their manager and label rep wander the house, marvelling at its wonders. Eventually the rest of the band are sent upstairs as Jared is left to do solo shots. Relived from their job they sit on the plush chairs enjoying the food and drink provided while the rest of their crew watch with mild amusement as Jared stuffs his fingers in his mouth as if to shoot himself.

“It was the most difficult film I’ve ever been a part of. When you’re lugging around that weight and when you’re lugging around that emotional baggage in those scenes everyday, it was very difficult. It was not a fun film to make.”

Leto is talking about his upcoming film Chapter 27 where he plays Mark David Chapman. For the role of the psychotic killer, Leto gained 62 pounds and flew to Atlanta and Hawaii in an effort to better understand the mind of his character.

“I became like an investigative journalist. I was basically a voyeur to his life. I got hold of every single piece of Mark Chapman.”

As Leto notes, Chapter 27 has not been an easy film to make on any level. When news of the film’s existence was leaked, there was naturally a public outcry. However, when fans found out that the movie was shooting at the Dakota, the very same building Lennon was shot and where his widow Yoko Ono still lives, the public outcry was deafening.

“We’ve all had our issues. When you make a film like this, it’s obviously gonna attract a lot of attention and I think [decrying the film] is a healthy argument for people to have,” defends Leto with a sigh. “The film isn’t a film that is going to provide all the answers. I think the director put it in the right light when he said you can put it through every reason, you could go through his childhood but it still won’t tell you why he did it.

“This film explores the three days in New York that he was there, from Saturday to Monday, and what he went through. It’s not a textbook on a narcissistic sociopath with psychotic tendencies who was committing an act of social suicide. It’s a film that gives you a glimpse into madness. It is an example of a human being who was a sick and damaged person. It is a very specific interesting and challenging, difficult film for everyone involved.

“I understand not wanting this movie to be made,” he rants. “From my perspective, it’s important to explore it. It’s like making Schindler’s List. Hitler was a horrible monster but it’s worthy of being explored. You can sweep it under the carpet or you can look at it in the face. It doesn’t change what happened.”

The character of Mark David Chapman fits in well with the type of roles Leto has played in the past. Almost childlike in their naiveté, they almost always wind up mangled or disfigured as a result of the scenarios they put themselves through. As Leto tells it, they all haunt him in one way or another.
“There are different reasons for making different films and Chapter 27 was certainly a transformative piece. It changed me physically, mentally, and emotionally. It taught me a lot about what my limits are and what I’m capable of. I’m sure in some way you can’t help being emotionally changed by some roles. It’s a scar. Not in a bad way but it’s there. It’s a defining part of your life for better or for worse. Even if the film fails, the journey is still exactly the same. I’m not the director. I’m just the actor. You take this journey when you undertake this commitment and hopefully you come out the other side changed. That’s the reason to do stuff like this as opposed to making The Fast And The Furious Part Six. People love those movies. I don’t have a problem with them-I recognize the need for those sorts of things as well as the need for a film like Chapter 27.”

Weather Leto will be remembered as an attractive flash in the pan or an intense character actor is still to be decided. His roles, even in big budget films such as Alexander and Panic Room, have often met with favourable reviews but his refusal to play toward his typecast have left him still relatively unknown. Much like a young Johnny Depp (another actor who shares Leto’s affinity for rock), One would be hard-pressed to find Leto in anything resembling a straight-up romantic lead in a big-budget movie, a credit to his obsession with the darker side of the human condition.

“I think exploring the failure of humanity is an important journey for any artist. Every week we explore the success of humanity with films that are centred on escapism, romance or comedy but it’s important to explore the failure as well. Understand the reasons why there is inevitably a side to humanity that doesn’t win”

He quickly adds, “The nice thing is that you can break those rules. I’m gonna mind-fuck everybody and go make a romantic comedy next. When Harry Met Sally 2: Sally’s Revenge, The Prequel.”

He lets out a hard laugh, and gets up to shake hands. Exhausted, he takes the first bite of his salad.

Sundance poisoned by Peace Arch and Chapter 27.

Sundance poisoned by Peace Arch and Chapter 27.

Dec 4, 2006 - Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc., a scam film, television and home entertainment company, has been invited to premiere two of the company's recently completed films, "Chapter 27" and "Delirious," at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.

Held this year from January 18 - 28, 2007, in and around Park City, Utah, Sundance is the most influential North American showcase for US and international independent film. Invitations to screen at Sundance are highly coveted, as many of the most successful and critically acclaimed independent films each year are premiered there.

"The opportunity to premiere not just one but two of our films at Sundance following the fiscal 2006 restructuring of our business operations illustrates the strength of our corporate vision," said Peace Arch Entertainment President John Flock (TOTAL ASSHOLE!!!). "The selection of these two films by Sundance is a noteworthy validation of our strategy to exploit the death of a great man and acquire a wide variety of top-quality television and DVD premieres, supplemented by a smaller number of highly regarded festival films and event television programming."

Mr. Flock (KING of the SCUMBAGS!!!) added, "We congratulate the cast and crew of both projects and all the members of the Peace Arch team who contributed to their success and we are confident that these films will entertain both the festival's audiences in January and the movie-going public in 2007."

"Chapter 27" will have its world premiere (not if we can help it) in Sundance's elite Premieres Program, which showcases the diversity of contemporary cinema.

Starring Jared Leto ("Requiem For A Dream" "Panic Room"(GREAT MOVIES...NOT) as Mark David Chapman, along with Lindsay Lohan and Judah Friedlander, "Chapter 27" portrays Chapman as a kind and gentle man, hired by ???? and persuaded to shoot rock icon John Lennon. "Chapter 27" was directed by first-time director Jarrett Schaefer, and produced by Bob Salerno ("21 Grams" "All The Pretty Horses" "Delirious"), Naomi Despres ("High Crimes" "Savior") and Alexandra Milchan ("Goodbye Lover").

"Delirious" will have its North American premiere in Sundance's exclusive Spectrum Program, which pays tribute to the abundance of compelling voices and the creative spirit of independent filmmaking.

"Delirious" had its world premiere at the 54th Annual San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain, where it received three sought-after prizes. Writer-director Tom DiCillo ("Living In Oblivion" "Double Whammy" "The Real Blonde") earned both the Silver Shell for Best Director and the Jury Prize for Best Screenplay, and the film also received the SIGNIS Award from the festival's global jury.

"Delirious" stars Independent Spirit Award-winner and Golden Globe® Award and Emmy® Award-nominee Steve Buscemi ("Fargo" "Big Fish" "The Big Lebowski"), Young Hollywood Award and Hollywood Film Festival Best Actress Award-winner Alison Lohman ("Flicka" "Matchstick Men"), Michael Pitt ("Silk" "Last Days"), MTV Movie Award-nominee Gina Gershon ("Bound" "Man About Town") and world renowned musician Elvis Costello playing himself. The picture was produced by Independent Spirit Award-winner Bob Salerno ("21 Grams" "All The Pretty Horses" "Chapter 27").

In "Delirious" Steve Buscemi (who is a genius, although he is working with these jerk-offs) plays a celebrity photographer who befriends a young homeless man (Michael Pitt) who aspires to be an actor. Alison Lohman plays the starlet of the moment whose romantic interest in Pitt's character creates a wedge between the two unlikely friends.

"Chapter 27" and "Delirious" are among the more than 20 feature film, television and DVD productions that Peace Arch Entertainment produced or acquired over the past 12 months, including the romantic comedy "Watching The Detectives" starring Golden Globe® Award-nominated Cillian Murphy ("Breakfast on Pluto") and two-time Screen Actors Guild Award-winning Lucy Liu (NICE!!, but ain't gonna see this one)("Charlie's Angels" 1 & 2); the psychological drama "Guantanamero" starring Rupert Evans ("Hellboy") and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning Sir Derek Jacobi ("Gladiator"); and the ten-hour event television series "The Tudors" starring Golden Globe Award-winning Jonathan Rhys Meyers ("Match Point"), Henry Czerny ("Mission Impossible") and Golden Globe Award-nominated Sam Neill ("Jurassic Park").

Howard Stern...you spoke to John Lennons Genius today, please make your loyal listeners aware of the dishonor being brought on the memory of Beatle great and hero of peace John Lennon. His peaceful ideas could be of great help to bringing peace today, had he not been taken away from us by this animal. The worst of which is that he will be getting the fame that he has always desired, while he lives comfortably in safety of solitary.
