Chapter 27 - movie message boards buzzing with Boycott chatter
VegasPlayerJim - A man fighting around the clock to stop Chapter 27:
Somebody on this message board asked why he got to direct this for his first film. I'll tell you why: because no true fan of John Lennon would ever make this film. He is trying to get rich, trying to get famous, and the studio that he's making it for has never done anything of note, and this is there unconscienable attempt at getting a box-office hit. Jarrett Schaeffer is no better than the Man Whose Name We Must Never Mention.
By making this film, he is dishonoring himself, as well as spitting in the face of John Lennon's legacy, family, and fans. I think it goes without question that the performers fall right into that same boat. Why Jared Leto would play this character is beyond me. Up until this point, I respected him as a performer, but now I don't know what to think. Perhaps he is trying to get the word out on how evil the MWNWMNM is . . . but there's no need for it to be put before us on celluloid, we already know about it! And this damn sure isn't the way to get out the message about John's legacy. Why not make a film about the good guy instead? It could end with a gunshot that comes out of nowhere, totally unexpected. Just like it happened for Johnny. Bang! Cut to black. No end credits.
Well, I for one will not be seeing this film, and I would encourage everyone else to stay clear as well. The man did what he did so he could be famous, and WE MUST NOT PERMIT THAT TO HAPPEN.
In the immortal words of SPIDER ROBINSON, as written in the October 5, 2000 edition of the Toronto Globe & Mail:
"The enormity of what was done can never be diminished...but the utter insignificance of the twerp who did it can never be overstated . . .
I don't want to ever know any more about HWNWMNM than I do right now. I don't need to understand his incomprehensible motives; I don't care to be privy to his unthinkable thoughts; I don't wonder what was failing to go through his mind at the moment he backshot his better; I'm not at all curious what his life is like in prison or what his family think of him now or what friends remember about him or his thoughts on the nature of violence. If he has a biographer, someone please offer that person honorable work instead."
You hear that Jarrett? Go look for some honorable work. But you'll never find it, because we all already know what an insignificant ragdoll you really are for trying to make it with this story.
Thanks for working the boards and spreading the word. Avoid this film at all costs.
And I suggest we email anyone selling or bidding for tickets to Chapter 27 at Sundance. They seem to be available on ebay, I would consider the people selling these tickets about as sickening as the executives at Peace Arch Entertainment.

A hearty congrats to you for holding your own here.I have genuine respect for any man who holds his own and refuses to compromise.I am with you and the rest of the fans all the way.
As for you Im,that so called "genuinely honorable and beautiful film" has not even been picked up by a distributor as of yet.Not only that, the film played privately at AFM and there were a lot of NO's by those who were there and even one critic who watched it even said that,in his own words, that it was "A Waste Of Time" and "A Very Unnecessary Film".Also, most of the Hollywood distributors have passed on this. This just goes to show you that they are "Not Interested" in this, which is good.
I am hoping that this film does not get picked up.If it does not,we'll declare victory and let the party begin. If it does, then we can only hope for the movie to BOMB and disappear quickly. We can still win this either way.
Thanks Howard.
John Lennon never did anything... he wrote some crappy songs while he was getting high with his girlfriend... didnt support the country that gave him his freedoms.. And the movie is a movie...They made the Passion of the Christ too, did that glorify the devil or the people who killed him?? no. this blog and the sites associated are a joke.. you can tell by the hit counts and the dates of the posts...
Corey Shuman wrote "John Lennon never did anything... he wrote some crappy songs while he was getting high with his girlfriend..."
Wow, what a ridiculously ignorant, uneducated and foolish statement! You must obviously be about 13 years old and are too busy listening to Justin Timberlake or something like that to know great music! Lennon is up there with all of the ALL TIME music greats! Everyone who knows anything knows that!
